I AM: inspired, aware, motivated
()
About this ebook
A collection of stories, allegories and moments that have impacted Christian Connett's life. The shapes of abuse, the pangs of heartache, and the overall self-indulgence that we subject ourselves to do not define us, however, they do have an impact in our lives and the decisions we make.
To be inspired, you must first be aware. Self-awareness and cognitive awareness are often ignored for gut feelings and past experiences. Be aware of your moments, past and present. Do not dwell on failures or heartache, focus on the impact each moment brings.
CHOOSE to be inspired, aware, and motived. Choose to be true to you inside and out. you will only regret not trying.
Christian describes his story of experiences, good and bad, and how he has learned to overcome the many obstacles that have been presented in his life. These are emotional and introspective.

There are many people that have inspired me, influenced me, helped me become more aware, and of course motivated and encouraged me during the writing of this book. There are also those that played a role, in one way or another in my life that effected these writings. Love, respect and gratitude to Mariah Andreasen, Christine Parmerlee, Lucas Sampson, and Andrew Schwarz who have had deep impacts on my life over this last year, and had a hand in my learnings and self-awareness, to which I cannot express how grateful I am to you for what you have assisted and contributed to my life. I am eternally grateful for each of you.
My Grandmother, Vera, would be proud of how open and revealing that I am in this book. It has taken a lot out of me to put to paper my experiences, thoughts and feelings, but she always encouraged me to do my best and make something out of myself. Here I am, doing that.
I dedicate this book to my beautiful daughters, whom bring me light, love and breath in every day. I love you all beyond words.

FOREWORD
Back in the latter 70's I had the privilege of attending an elementary school music program which introduced me to a new activity where each student was asked to lie down on our backs, hands at our sides and instructed to stay completely still. During which time, our vocal music instructor played some type of relaxing classical music and told us to focus on our breathing; then to imagine our feet getting very heavy and starting to sink beneath the floor. She then told us to concentrate and do the same thing with our legs, stomachs and then on to our arms and neck and heads, all the while breathing slowly in and out. Many students would often even fall asleep during this particular activity, me included at least once or twice. I distinctly remember looking forward to this class and still can recall the details of this exercise to this day.
What I didn't know then, but am now aware of today was this young school teacher was introducing us to an old Eastern Yoga technique known as practicing the art of mindfulness. This age-old tradition recommends lying or sitting as quiet and as still as possible. While slowly breathing in through your nose, counting to three and then exhaling out through your mouth while counting to seven you remained focused on your body. As you continue this process, it's important to begin to think about the sounds you hear and to be aware of how your body feels.
Learning to listen to and pay attention to the details of this process is the beginning to learning how to be aware of your surroundings and improving your overall skills of observation. This can lead to
