If Only It Were True by Marc Levy (Book Analysis) - Bright Summaries

    French author

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt (France) in 1961.

    Notable works:

    The Shadow Thief (2010), novel

The Strange Journey of Mr. Daldry (2011), novel

    Stronger than Fear (2013), novel

If Only It Were True is an original, touching love story about a young architect and the soul of a young woman who is in a coma. This unusual supernatural adventure is also a reflection on love, life, death and the modern world’s reluctance to embrace spirituality, which in turn encourages the reader to think more deeply about the meaning of existence.

The novel’s strengths lie in the transcendental nature of its story (meaning that it takes place outside the realm of the concrete), its realistic description of the medical world and American society, and its interwoven passages of narrative, believable dialogue and letters. In 2005, the American director, producer and scriptwriter Mark Waters (born in 1964) adapted the novel for the cinema under the title Just Like Heaven.
