James L. Menapace

James Menapace served in the military at the American Embassy in London, England.  A degree in philosophy was earned at Saint Paul Seminary.  He was ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Marquette, MI on June 1, 1963. Assignments included Campus Minister at Lake Superior State and Northern Michigan Universities, a Master of Arts degree in Education was obtained, graduating summa cum laude.  Seventeen years prior to retirement, he served as pastor at St. Francis de Sales parish and school in Manistique, MI.  A strong promoter of ecumenism, he served as chairperson of the Ministerial Association. He has conducted retreats at the Diocesan retreat center, Marygrove, in Garden, Michigan and served on Cursillo and Pax Christi teams and continues to provide spiritual direction and guidance.  Spare time is spent gardening.  Menapace stated, “Sowing seeds makes me more aware of God’s love and providence for all creation.”
