The Vixen
Once there lived, in the dense forests of the mountain foothills, a Vixen, with her three pups. The Vixen had recently given birth to the litter of three and had to constantly look after them and nurse them. During the day the Vixen would rest under the bushes, basking at a vantage point and in the night time, would retire within the comforts of her den. The Vixen had collected soil, branches, sticks, twigs and leaves and had made a cosy bedding to comfort her pups.
The Vixen was very happy with her pups. The Vixen had to go out searching for food for herself. The pups were only 2 weeks old and had not been weaned off her milk. The Vixen would scurry around the dense forest, mapping the entire terrain, searching for fruits, berries and grasses or would hunt for birds or insects. The Vixen would occasionally bring back her catch to her den and stock it for the winter.
In a modest cabin, a few miles away from the mountain foothills, lived a Hunter. The Hunter had a dog named ‘Bandit’. Bandit was a Foxhound, bread especially for hunting foxes.
