About this ebook

During my travels around Texas as a practicing CPA, past chairman of the Texas Society of CPAs and my part time job as a sports broadcaster, I have had the opportunity to try out restaurants all over the state. My favorites are "holes in the wall" that are family owned. Therefore, I have compiled a list of restaurants in which I have eaten and enjoyed that meet this criteria so that readers may enjoy them as well.

Before the Game: A Pregame Guide to Texas Restaurants
Author

Jeff Gregg CPA

Between traveling around Texas as a practicing certified public accountant since 1982 which has included Freemon, Shapard and Story in Wichita Falls and Castagna & Gregg PC here in Seymour which merged into Davis Kinard & Co PC headquartered in Abilene in 2010, my second job as the Voice of the Seymour Panthers since 1991, and having served as Chairman of the Texas Society of CPAs in 2010-11, I have stopped at a number of Texas restaurants. Many times, friends will call and ask for recommendations for restaurant stops when traveling. Two of those friends, Melinda Mendoza and Philip Campbell, suggested I write a book that includes my favorites. And Paige Baker, a Seymour High and Texas Tech alumni, has stayed on me to finish this project. I hope you enjoy reading and eating as much as I did discovering the places in this list. Note that I have not included any national chains in my list; I am a big fan of sole proprietors and family operations (although Texas only chains are OK).
