    Dedication

This book is dedicated to the loving memory of my dear friend Suzi Granger who came into my life thanks to the Network Marketing industry. Suzi was a gigantic light in my life and she was a pure example of, and a stand for, the amazing community we have access to here.

You have truly left a legacy for all of us, Suzi, and I will always hold you fondly in my heart.

    Special thanks:

To my beautiful daughters, Olivia and Ava, who motivate me to be the best I can be every day in every aspect of my life.

To my loving father, my awesome stepmother, and my incredible brother, Lionel, for always believing in me and supporting me in all of the wild and sometimes crazy ventures I tend to undertake.

To David McLaughlin, Annie Schellenberg, Christa Way, and Michael Jude who have stood by my side for the entire 8 years I’ve been in this industry and who continue to call me forward into my magnificence every single day.

To Wayne & Gerri Hillman (the wonderful founders of the company I’m involved with), for your vision, your support, and your undying love for all of us.

To Marjorie Lynn and Alex Theis for standing with me and believing in me as we move forward into the vision of empowering mothers everywhere and making a significant impact on the world.

To the millions of mothers on the planet who inspire me on a daily basis. It is because of you that this book was written and that I am given the profound honor of living my true passion every single day.

    Preface

It is because of my deep passion for the Network Marketing industry and what it has provided for myself and my daughters that I was moved to write MLM for MOM. My goal is to help get this message out to mothers everywhere, to show why the Network Marketing industry truly is a natural fit for mothers, and to help make this world a little bit better for my having been here.

There are 4 other amazing mothers who have contributed chapters to MLM for MOM. The message received from each of these women is unique, educational, and profound. I am humbled and it is a great honor and privilege to be able to feature each of these women in MLM for MOM.

My sincere thanks to Nicole S. Cooper, Chante Epps-McDonald, Cindy Lapp, and Ali Alvarez. Your contribution to MLM for MOM is extraordinary, and I am in deep gratitude.

    Introduction

My name is Amy Starr Allen and I’m a single mom. I’ve been involved in the Network Marketing industry for over 8 years, and could not be more passionate about what this industry provides for people, particularly mothers.

When I was first introduced to the company I’m with and the Network Marketing industry, I was working full-time in corporate America. I was working in the music industry and, being a singer-songwriter myself, this felt like the ideal job for me (other than the fact, of course, that I was barely making enough to get by and I had no time to do the things I really wanted to do with my life!).

When I was introduced to the concept of Network Marketing, I immediately liked the idea of it and began to invest a small amount of my non-working hours into building the business on the side. Eventually, I got married, left the music industry, and started to pursue other types of entrepreneurial careers such as real estate and personal training. I continued to chip away at my Network Marketing business in the midst of everything else I was doing, and was slowly but surely creating a small residual income that I could count on month after month, regardless of how much time I spent on my business in any given month.

Then I got pregnant. About 6 months into my pregnancy as I thought about bringing a child into the world, I got VERY CLEAR that I didn’t want to continue working full-time. I didn’t want to be away from my child for that many hours each week.

What I realized was that, although I really loved real estate and personal training (two things that I happen to be very passionate about), both of these careers required trading hours for dollars which meant:

    1. I had to work a lot to make a decent income and

    2. No matter how many hours I worked, there was a limit to how much I could earn (there are only so many hours in the day, after all).

Then it hit me. As I was sitting in the international convention for my Network Marketing company, watching all kinds of people (most of which had been involved in the company a lot less
