star.jpgIntroducing the Author
Florence Zohreh Zaré, FloZa, was born in Tehran in 1949 in a happy family with loving parents, one brother and two sisters.
From a very early age she enjoyed writing, as well as drawing and painting. When she was in high school she spent some time in California. Later she went to Pahlavi University
in Shiraz and graduated in English Language and Literature.
Her first love was painting, as she has always painted since the age of ten; and her second love writing; as the events of her life have brought her to live in very different countries… in particular historical times.
She started her professional life as an English teacher (1972-1978), first in Tehran, Iran, with an American Company, and then in France.
Later she continued her studies in Banking and worked in an international bank for several years.
After a heart breaking separation in France in the late 1980’s, she travelled to the United States together with her two-year-old son, Charles-Alexander—first to California and then to Arizona. She studied Business in North American College in Phoenix, and worked in a bank for a while…
She and her son travelled to Tehran in mid 1991 to stay with their family in Niavaran, a northern suburb of Tehran. The young boy could attend the French school and his mother could have an active life and support her small family.
At that time there was a French community of about one hundred people in Iran. Those years were quite challenging for Florence. As she had left Iran before the Iranian Revolution, rediscovering the country under totally different circumstances required a lot of adaptation on her part, and a permanent effort for more and more comprehension.
She continued her studies by correspondence and accomplished an MBA in Business Administration from the Pacific Western University of Los Angeles.
In Tehran she occupied a number of interesting positions in Irano-European companies, as Assistant to Managers and CEO’s. Her son was also receiving a good education and overall they had a happy life, surrounded by family and friends.
Years later, when she had an opportunity to come back to France, she kept thinking about those years spent in the new Iran, a country where people spoke a language she knew well, yet everything had totally changed! The storied you read here are the result of her life experience throughout those years spent in Iran. She wrote them down so that they would settle in her mind and allow her to continue with her present life.
Her son is now an accomplished young man of 25 and the joy of her life…
Ever since mid 1999 she has been living near Paris, in France and working as a Professeur d’Anglais
. She has also been painting and writing…

The Party

The salon formed the shape of an L
. People could come in by the far end where the entrance door was. Each time the door opened the cold winter air blew in, bringing in a lot of sunshine in its breath.
We were in sunshine country, so the bright sunny light came in through every open door, through all the windows and any pore in the wall.
There were fruit and pastries on the low tables of rectangular shape that were set up within equal distances in the middle of the passage way—a large ‘L’ shaped isle. There were also small plates, accompanied by little forks and spoons. The tables were neatly set and there was plenty to eat, and hot tea and coffee
