Ferry Ride

About this ebook
A typical spring day in Seattle, it is raining sideways. The ferries are having thefts of all kinds. Detective Rage and officer Jones are fresh faces and should be able to arrest a few and chase the others north.
They go on board as young lovers and fade into the ugly gray paint job. They have several suspicious people in the car parking area but nothing else. Rage handles a pickpocket and a sudden wave causes his head to hit the steel wall. They turn him over to the first mate.
The ferry ride to Bremerton is a rough sea, late, and most people stay seated. Jones is enjoying the spray at the bow.
Rage’s boss calls them, “There is a bomb on board. It will level two blocks if they dock. At the point of no return, the ferry will sail in a circle for twenty-five minutes until $25 million is transferred If not, they will sink the ferry.
Jones searches the ferry and finds two covered vans and a short-rigged semi.
The Captain refuses to see Rage even with her police and FBI badges. She shoots open the two steel doors leading to the bridge.
Rage has four fingers up, meaning four minutes before it explodes as she returns with the Captain. He orders his crew to remove all safety devices from the ferry to release all the vehicles.

Chapter 1 The Drive to Work
It is a Typical April Fool’s day in Seattle. The weatherman said the night before that they were to have sunshine for the day. The morning comes but you need the car lights on to see anything. It is jet black and the rain is just minutes away. About all the breakfast weather girl can say is ‘April Fool.’ She is left with egg all over her face from the weatherman who will not be on the set until 5 pm and maybe he will report some sunshine as he drives to work
Rage’s run to the car is enough to drown a rat. The morning drive into work is like driving through a December rainfall of four inches in a six-hour time span. Detective Rage’s windbreaker is a heavy raincoat with boots to match its green color. She needed the outfit for the short hop to her truck. She has a spot in the police garage on the very bottom floor. But it is not raining down there. She takes her coat off and shakes it, just like everyone else that has come into day. She is dripping water all the way to the elevator to go up to her office.
She is in before 8 am although she started out earlier enough to be in by 7:30 am. She hangs her coat, goes to her desk to sit down, and take her boots off. Before she can sit, she is motioned into the Inspector’s office.
The Inspector’s name is Strong. Earl Strong, class of 1940, University of Texas. He was a Major in the Military Police. Early 60’s, What hair he has, is buzzed into a Crew cut. Always with a green 1940’s felt hat, brim bent down in front. A cigar his Dr. says he can chew but not smoke
Usually his homicide detectives compile the data from the crime scene and then poke it around
