About this ebook
This book describes Testis, Function, Diseases, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related Diseases
The testis also called testicle or balls is an important oval-shaped organ that sits in a sac that hangs behind the penis.
The main job of testicles is to:
1. Make and store sperm and
2. Produce testosterone, the male hormone that is responsible for the changes to males during puberty.
Puberty is the time in the life when the body starts to change and a boy begin to look more and more like a grown-up.
After puberty is completed, the testicles will produce millions of sperm a day.
Sperm combines with a white milky substance to make semen.
Semen is what is released from the penis when the male ejaculate.
Males become fertile meaning they are able to ejaculate semen and get a girl pregnant around age 11 to 17.
The testicles will grow during puberty normally in the early stage of puberty around age 10 to 13.
As the testicles develop, the skin around the scrotum, the sac that holds the testicles, will darken, hang down and start to develop hair.
On average, testicles develop to be about 2 to 3 inches in length and 1 inch in diameter.
Normally, the right testicle is larger than the left.
Also, one testicle (normally the left) often hangs lower than the other.
For the testicles to produce sperm, they must be maintained at just the right temperature.
Thus the scrotum will alter size to make sure the testicles stay at that right temperature.
When the temperature is low, the body transmits a note to the scrotum to shrivel to preserve heat.
Similar to how the body directs the scrotum to shrivel when it is cold; the body tells the scrotum to loosen up when the temperature is greater.
The testicles will become bigger and looser to release the extra heat
Many things can cause painful or swollen testicles, such as:
1.Fluid collecting in an area surrounding a testicle, a disorder known as a hydrocele.
2.Infection, such as from a virus or a sexually transmitted disease (STD) like Chlamydia
3.Inguinal hernia.
4.Trauma to the testicles, such as from being kicked, hit, or crushed.
5.Swelling in a vein that drains blood away from a testicle, a disorder called varicocele.
6.Testicular cancer.
7.Testicular torsion, which happens when a testicle gets twisted.
Testicles are easily the most confusing and annoying organs on the human body.
They are always getting in the way when the man wants to sit down
They also turn a simple task like wearing tight jeans into a minefield
4. The basic cause behind blue balls is the build up of pressure from blood flowing to a man's penis.
The whole process can turn the testicles a darker color than their normal shade.
While the man is having sex away in the bedroom his testicles increase in size by at least 50%.
Both Jimmy Carter and Hitler have one testis.
Carter's solo testicle did not seem to affect him in any way but Hitler really seemed to have some intense mental issues.
Every day, the man’s testicles are hard at work creating thousands of sperm a second.
The testicles make 200 million sperm every day.
In the Middle Ages, men who wanted sons would sometimes have their left testicle chopped off because they thought the right testicle made male sperm, and the left made female
In pre-biblical times men sometimes placed their hand on another man’s testicles when swearing an oath, because the testicles gave witness to a man’s virility
The testes contain a large percentage of the body's proteins.
Of the organs of the male body, the testicles are the ones that contain the largest proportion of the body's proteins.
77 percent of all the proteins present in the human body are evident in the testicles.

Introduction
I have been writing medical articles for my blog: http://kennethkee.blogspot.com (A Simple Guide to Medical Disorder) for the benefit of my patients since 2007.
My purpose in writing these simple guides was for the health education of my patients.
Health Education was also my dissertation for my Ph.D (Healthcare Administration).
I then wrote an autobiolographical account of his journey as a medical student to family doctor on his other blog: http://afamilydoctorstale.blogspot.com.
This autobiolographical account A Family Doctor’s Tale
was combined with my early A Simple Guide to Medical Disorders
into a new Wordpress Blog A Family Doctor’s Tale
on http://kenkee481.wordpress.com.
From which many free articles from the blog was taken and put together into 800 eBooks.
Some people have complained that the simple guides are too simple.
For their information they are made simple in order to educate the patients.
The later books go into more details of medical disorders.
The first chapter is always from my earlier blogs which unfortunately tends to have typos and spelling mistakes.
Since 2013, I have tried to improve my spelling and writing.
As I tried to bring the patient the latest information about a disorder or illness by reading the latest journals both online and offline, I find that I am learning more and improving on my own medical knowledge in diagnosis and treatment for my patients.
Just by writing all these simple guides I find that I have learned a lot from your reviews (good or bad), criticism and advice.
I am sorry for the repetitions in these simple guides as the second chapters onwards have new information as compared to my first chapter taken from my blog.
I also find repetition definitely help me and maybe some readers to remember the facts in the books more easily.
I apologize if these repetitions are irritating to some readers.
Chapter 1
Testis
What is a Testis?
It is frequent for males to have slightly different size testicles.
Normally, the right testicle is larger than the left.
Also, one testicle (normally the left) often hangs lower than the other.
For the testicles to produce sperm, they must be maintained at just the right temperature.
Thus the scrotum will alter size to make sure the testicles stay at that right temperature.
This happens without a person having to think about it.
1. Fluid collecting in an area surrounding a testicle, a disorder known as a hydrocele.
2. Infection, such as from a virus or a sexually transmitted disease (STD) like Chlamydia
3. Inguinal hernia.
This is a disorder in which a part of the intestines pushes into the groin or scrotum through an abnormal opening or weakening in the stomach.
4. Trauma to the testicles, such as from being kicked, hit, or crushed.
5. Swelling in a vein that drains blood away from a testicle, a disorder called varicocele.
6. Testicular cancer.
7. Testicular torsion, which happens when a testicle gets twisted.
A testicular torsion can be a serious condition.
Many different types of testicle disorders are linked to pain and swelling in the testicles.
So it is not always easy to tell which episode could lead to more serious disorders if ignored.
The person should play it safe and get checked.
Testicular cancer happens when cells in the testicle divide abnormally and form a tumor.
The most frequent symptom of testicular cancer is a painless lump on a testicle.
Other symptoms may be:
1. An enlarged or swollen testicle, with or without pain
2. A heavy, aching feeling in the lower stomach, low back, or groin
3. Examining the testicles regularly to check for lumps.
When examining the testicles, cup the scrotum with the hand and gently rub one testicle at a time between the thumb and pointer finger.
The testicles should feel oval and smooth.
A hard lump should be checked by a doctor.
The person should keep in mind; the scrotum has other
