The more the science has advanced the further away have we moved from nature. Thanks to our artificial existence, even to quench a natural urge like thirst, we imbibe synthetic substances such as colas and caffeine-loaded drinks.Having starved our body of nature`s most precious liquid, water, we are beset with multiple ailments like headaches, arthritis, asthma, urinary problems, general debility, blood pressure and the like. Very often missing the root cause of the problem, we rush to doctors - only to have antibiotics pumped into us that offer short-term relief while turning into long-term nightmares. This book shows how drinking just 12 to 14 glasses of water per day (for the average person) cures many ailments, including chronic ones. #v&spublishers

    Water A Miracle Therapy - A. R. Hari

    System

    Introduction

Man has always recognised the importance of water to lead a healthy life. Ancient Indians had considered water as one of the fve important elements of nature that make up the human body.

Ayurveda, the Indian medicine system, considers water a very essential item in maintaining health and stipulates the quantity and manner in which water is to be consumed. Modern research has confrmed that what Ayurveda had stated thousands of years ago is very true.

Modern man unfortunately knows little about this important aspect and is under the impression that any fluid he consumes is a substitute for water. Consumption of aerated drinks has become the latest fashion of the day. Most people are under the impression that consuming aerated drinks is a good substitute for plain water.

While a majority of people are very conscious about the type of food they eat, the vitamins and minerals and the calorific value of the items they consume, they rarely consider water as an aid in maintaining good health. But believe it or not, proper consumption of water in the right quantity and quality is far more important than the quality of food one eats.

In the past 20 years, extensive research has been carried out in Japan and Germany on the role of water in maintaining good health. As the human body is made up of 70 percent water and the brain is almost 90 percent water, one can easily deduce why water plays a vital role in good health and well-being.

The book places before you details of the research carried out in this field by various scientists in different countries. I do hope the book will be successful in making you look at water as the best health drink one can consume.

I shall be very thankful for your feedback and experience after consuming revitalised water as explained in this book.

Suggestions for improvement are always welcome.

    DR BATMANGHELIDJ, MD

Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj is no ordinary doctor. He is an MD from the famous St Mary’s Medical College in London and has practised medicine in London. He now treats all types of chronic ailments with water.

Dr Batmanghelidj is the author of the bestseller, Your Body’s Many Cries for Water.

    1. The Water Doctor

Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj was born in 1931 in Iran. He was a brilliant student and successfully entered St Mary’s Medical School in London. After completing his graduation in medicine, he began practising at St Mary’s Hospital, London.

Goaded by a desire to serve his country, Dr Batmanghelidj returned to Iran in 1978 and engaged himself in building one of the largest medical complexes in order to offer advanced medical facilities on a charitable basis.

However, at this juncture, Iran was undergoing political turmoil and a few people in the revolutionary government who had taken a dislike to Dr Batmanghelidj levelled all types of accusations against him. He was arrested in 1979 and sent to prison pending sentencing.

It was while he was in prison that Dr Batmanghelidj discovered the wonderful curative powers of water. It was this discovery that made him change the course of his life and devote himself to spreading the message of the importance of water.

It so happened that late one night while he was resting in prison, a patient was brought to him with severe abdominal pain. After preliminary diagnosis, Dr Batmanghelidj came to the conclusion that the person was suffering from pain caused by an ulcer. However, there was no medication available in the prison and at his wit’s end, Dr Batmanghelidj advised the patient to drink two glasses of water.

To his complete surprise, after a couple of minutes the patient reported he was feeling much better! Periodic doses of water were given to the patient every 20 minutes and he was relieved of pain without any medication whatsoever in just eight hours.

Dr Batmanghelidj felt he had witnessed nothing short of a miracle. For the next two years, he studied the medicinal value of water by offering water therapy to hundreds of prisoners suffering from various diseases.

Jail is a place where virtually all prisoners have a high level of stress and stress-related diseases. This Iranian jail was no exception and in the absence of medication, the patients had to follow the advice of the doctor about changing their water regimen to get rid of their diseases. To everyone’s pleasant surprise, the diseases responded to this unusual treatment and Dr Batmanghelidj came to be regarded as a miracle doctor amongst the prisoners.

Meanwhile, his case came up before the court. The charges framed against him were so serious that a death sentence seemed inevitable. When he was brought to the court for sentencing, and when the judge asked why he should not be sentenced to death, Dr Batmanghelidj presented the details of the work he was doing in the prison.

The judge was so impressed by the research of Dr Batmanghelidj, and realising that the work done by the doctor could help millions of people all over the world, that he condoned the charges and ordered the good doctor be freed.

Dr Batmanghelidj was released in 1982 after having spent two years and seven months in jail. Shortly thereafter, he proceeded to the US where he now lives. Now his life’s mission is to educate people on the benefits of drinking pure water.

The articles written by Dr Batmanghelidj have been published in highly respected journals like the Journal of Clinical Gastro Entomology, New York Times and medical council journals. His book, Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, has become a best-seller in America and has been appreciated both by laymen and unbiased medical professionals. Thousands have got rid of their illnesses by just drinking water as per the schedule given by Dr Batmanghelidj.

Dr Batmanghelidj has now taken the case directly to the people. He believes that the institutions founded in various countries for promoting good health among citizens are not doing their work properly and it is up to the people to take care of their own health.

In his book, Dr Batmanghelidj argues that medications are only palliatives. They are not designed to cure any degenerative disease of the human body. The disease itself is caused by dehydration. The body needs a certain amount of water every day for proper functioning of the various organs. The type of disease is not important. It may be hypertension, ulcer, diabetes, high cholesterol, angina pain and so on. At the root of every disease is dehydration. Hydrate the body properly and you will recover without any medication.

The first mechanism that the body has designed to make a person aware of its needs for water is thirst. Thirst is a basic instinct and if only this mechanism works properly and we feel thirsty whenever there is a need for water in the body, the number of illnesses we are prone to will go down drastically.

Unfortunately, this invaluable instinct is killed in the earliest stages of childhood, with the result that modern man never feels thirsty. If the instinct for thirst is virtually dead in the majority of people, then it is important to ponder why this instinct dies.

When a newborn cries the mother always thinks that it is asking for food. In the first year of birth, the thirst instinct is strong, but as the food a baby consumes is mostly in fluid form, the baby’s requirement of water is automatically met.

The problem actually begins when, at a certain stage of its development, the change-over from liquid food to a solid form of food becomes necessary.

Solid food needs more water for proper digestion and assimilation, and at this point of time, the mother unwittingly reduces the fluid intake of the baby. As the thirst mechanism is well organised, the baby cries for water but is unable to express itself, as speech is a long way off.

Such cries of the baby are interpreted as pangs of hunger and again, unwittingly, food is offered. A parent never imagines that all the baby wants is plain water.

Another problem that starts with the birth of a baby concerns the type of fluids that are administered as food. Most of these are pleasantly favoured and sweetish. Plain water is not offered at times and, therefore, a baby has no chance to appreciate or enjoy drinking plain water and to develop a taste for it.

When the change-over to solid food takes place, a baby naturally misinterprets the need for water as that for some fluids it was consuming. Water is, of course, again denied. Thus every time the baby
