What People are saying about, “She Loved Me.”

“What a freaking adventure, mystery and hot love story all in one. Bravo Olivia! You are the one. I loved the way you tied all of your series together in this soon to be blockbuster, bestseller. This has to be a best seller because it was just freaking awesome. If people read this and don't give you 5 stars for a review, they just must be extremely narrow minded. Again Olivia, Bravo and thanks.” Bella, Chandler, AZ

“This was just excellent. You brought in all of the people from both of your series. Is this an introduction to a new series? Are you holding out on us Olivia? I loved the way the Harriet and Debbie Brown showed up on the scene as well as Claudia and Grace from the House of Romance. And they all did just enough to move the story along very well. I am surprised that you can make so much happen in such a short period of time with no strange surprises. I have no idea of how you will follow up after this one, but thank God I´m on your mailing list.” Alexis, Las Vegas, NV

“I cried at least two times when I was reading this book. The characters are well developed the plot just unfolds so well with surprises that make sense. I love the character Harriet Rothchild. She is just the best. And the way that Beatrice hooked up with Debbie Brown just brought me to my knees. Also, the story made sense in the world that we live in today. It made me think about the reality of the place where we live and who really makes the decisions about what happens in our lives. Olivia, you write about some important issues facing all of us on the planet.” Kayla, Huntington Beach, CA

“The Toy?” No you didn't! That was just great. And the guys in Greece. Who would have thought. I had no idea. But you know what Olivia? I looked it up just for the heck of it and the fact of the matter is, the CIA has places like this all over the world. You really check out your stuff don't you. This was a great adventure and I love the message that you hit home at the very end of the book. Whammo!” Camilla, Boston, MA

She Loved Me - Olivia Hampshire

    Chapter 1, The Fading Love

Beatrice was laying in bed, under comfy and fluffy pink covers, clutching a photo of her and her girlfriend Susan in her hand. Her long, wavy brown hair fell in bouncy curls by her side, and the sun that was shining through the cracks in the blinds glinted off of her well-manicured acrylic nails. Beatrice had opted for a delicately colored French manicure, with gold glitter on the tips. The sun made the glitter shimmer brightly, creating small spots of light on her porcelain skin.

Her beautiful, full pink lips were in a pout, and her bright, curious blue eyes with their long, luscious black lashes were at once both drowsy and perplexed. Her button nose was wrinkled. The photograph in her hands was a picture of her and Susan on Halloween a few years ago. They were both dressed up in sassy, sexy superhero costumes. Susan’s long blond hair was done up in two pig tails with buns on top, and she was dressed as Sailor Moon, the beloved Japanese cartoon character. Beatrice was wearing a Wonder Woman costume. They both had giant smiles on their face, and looked like they had no cares at all in the whole entire world.

Both women had been in the Navy, that was where they had met. They were strong, powerful girls despite their demeanors. They were also very intelligent. A bit nerdy, some might say. They had bonded over their love of engineering and comic books, and a love affair had quickly grown between them. After retiring from the Navy, they had put their brains to use. They used their veteran benefits to enroll in a top notch engineering school, and they had graduated last year and been hired by the very rich Chell Oil company.

The photo had been taken during their last year of engineering school, when they were both still filled with energy and unconcerned with the burdens of the world. They had been very social, often going to parties and galas, and they were always the belles of the ball.

Although work at Chell Oil meant they could afford a very lavish life style, including a lovely penthouse apartment overlooking the beach, an exotic pet ocelot, and beautiful furniture, clothing, and a well-decorated apartment, things had become more serious. The first few weeks they had done a lot of hosting in the apartment and had a lot of fun, but then Susan had hit upon a new idea and it seemed to take her to another place, far distant from her doting girlfriend Beatrice.

The ideas that Susan was working on seemed both alternatively draining and energizing. Susan would often spend long nights alone in their drawing room, drinking coffee until the wee hours and attending work with deep, dark circles under her eyes. Her hair and clothing would be disheveled, her long, beautiful silky blonde locks done up in a messy bun.

Other times, she would seem so excited she was almost manic. She would speak fast and furious, her eyes shimmering with a brightness that Beatrice had never encountered before. They seemed to be almost on fire. As educated as Beatrice was, she had a hard time keeping up with the avalanche of ideas that was spewing out of her girlfriend’s mouth. She learned to just nod and smile, because in the past whenever she had tried to introject or ask for clarification, she had clearly annoyed Susan to no end.

The house parties stopped, the socializing stopped, and worst of all, the sex and cuddling and romantic evenings in bed together stopped. Susan simply did not have time for sleep anymore, let alone the finer things in life. Beatrice’s vibrator had become her new lover and best friend.

It was sad, and Beatrice looked at the photo wishing she could somehow get back to those happier, more lighthearted days. She could hear Susan’s light laughter in her head, a sound she had not heard in a long time. These days, when Susan had time to laugh, it had a different sound to it. A bit more maniacal. Still, Beatrice respected genius and she knew that it could be odd and isolating. The birth of a new invention required a total adjustment of one’s life, and that was why stories about mad scientists were always so popular.

Still, Beatrice desperately wanted to ask Susan to marry her. She had been planning it for a while. She thought once they had graduated and settled into their new jobs and their new apartment, she would find
