About this ebook
I find a rock overhang, which seems as good a sleeping place as I’m likely to find. I remove my backpack, lie down and place my backpack and Glyr in front of me. I fall sleep immediately. (If you have trouble sleeping, try an all day hike,)
After I wake up, I can see nothing better than to continue my hike.
I walk through a desert landscape that steadily turns to more rock.
Suddenly I spot an enormous flying creature. It appears to be maybe some kind of flying dinosaur.
Flying dinosaur spots me and decides to have a little snack of hiking man.
I stand tall and wave Glyr at the flying dinosaur. Then, as the flying dinosaur swoops in for the kill, I dive under the path of the flying dinosaur, evading its killing beak, and then slice at flying dinosaur’s leg, with Glyr. To my amazed delight, flying dinosaur crashes to the ground, hard. I rise from the ground and use Glyr to slice chunks from the crippled creature. I end the process by decapitating the head of the dinosaur that will fly no more. Flying dinosaur dies and hiking man lives.
I make a quick examination of the dead former flying dinosaur, The corpse is mainly skin and bone, save the beak, which seems to have some meat and also some meat ripping teeth. None of the flying dinosaur appears to be the kind of meat that I might want to eat.
I suspect that the presence of the flying dinosaur would mean that I could be safe from other predators, for a while at least.
I continue to walk through a desert landscape, that steadily turns to more rock.
The rocks turn from isolated rocks, in a desert environment, into cliffs. The cliffs have holes, probably caves, in them. I might find shelter in a cave, at the end of my long day’s hike.
I then see people come out of the caves and begin to walk down to the path that I follow. I see that the people are naked and they have the look of animals, not humans. They advance on me in hostile fashion. I draw Glyr and prepare to defend myself, as best I might. One of the larger males approaches me and then extends his arms and leaps at me. I use Glyr to decapitate the leaper. Other of the naked beasts then attack the dead body of the leaper. They lap at the blood of the deader and tear at the flesh of the deader, then chew on the meat. Others of what has to be a cannibal crew continue to advance on me.
I can see that my only path of escape, leads through the cannibals. Glyr feeds me life force from the deader and I cut at the nearest of the cannibals.
As each cannibal dies, other cannibals begin to eat their dead.
I might have died, but the attention of the cannibals is on the dead meat, not on me.
I cut my way around the edge of the cannibals, leaving the dead to attract the attention of the survivors. As each cannibal dies, Glyr feeds me life force.
I finally reach the far edge of the cannibals and I then move on, at a fast walk, checking my back trail for pursing cannibals. I am not pursued and I leave the cannibals to their grisly feasting.
I continue through cliffs, for a bit and then I come to a sizable stream. I rinse off Glyr and Glyr and I check the stream. There appear to be no predatory fish or aquatic animals. I sheath Glyr and then plunge into the stream. I swim across the stream and reach the other side without problem. I halt and wash my clothing, letting the garments dry, on rocks.
I find a small spring, that feeds into the stream. The spring water passes the sniff test, the taste test and I then drink my fill, as well as fill my canteen. Drinking unknown water is a risk, but dying of thirst is an even greater risk. I eat the last of my lizard tail meat and I try to plan my next move.
I gather my clothing and I get dressed.
I then continue to walk in the same direction that I was walking before I encountered the cannibals. I have been walking for quite some time and I feel the need for rest.

I'm the co-author, with Sunset Thomas, of Anatomy of An Adult Film.I have 48 novels and over 299 short stories currently published.I spent my early years in the part of Los Angeles known as the South Central. I was known as Whi' Boy, which was sufficient to identify me in that place. I'm a skilled Kung Fu player, using a system that I learned from a Korean I knew only as 'Pak.' It would be easier to tell you the places that Pak wasn't wanted by the police, rather than the places where he was wanted by the police. Pak's Kung Fu system, augmented by some bits and pieces from some Chinese practitioners is quick and effective, or I wouldn't be alive today. My early education was mostly obtained by stealing books from the public library (I always returned them and the Librarian even began to provide me with reading lists.) I did go to high schools, but I never really learned anything there. I eventually graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA, with a degree in mathematics.I work as a Systems Analyst and also make a part of my living as a professional gambler (legal in Nevada.) I write science fiction and erotica. My published novels are:Anatomy of An Adult Film (With Sunset Thomas)1. Second Chance: God Killer2. Second Chance: Sky Pirate3. Second Chance: Scroll Seeker4. Anti-Necromancer: Return From Hell

I'm in a bus shelter, waiting for a bus. I'm bound for yet another work assignment. The reason for my work appointment is that I'm what you might call an anti-necromancer.
A necromancer is one who raises the dead and communicates with them.
I don't raise the dead, what I do is to deal with the ghosts of the dead and also with the undead. Sometimes I deal with demons. When I finish with the ghosts or the undead, they're neither ghosts nor undead. The demons are a bit more problem for me to deal with, but deal with them I do.
If I'm to deal with ghosts, the undead, or demons, I have to go where and when they are.
Where I can find a demon, at this time, is some distance away and I wait for a bus that will take me closer to where I can find a demon.
When I can find a demon, is Halloween night.
I appear to be a slightly tall man, of study build. I have very white skin and black hair. I'm sort of nondescript in appearance, trending maybe a tiny bit toward ruggedly handsome.
I wear brown denim clothing and high boots. The rugged denim and the brown color let me sort of fade into rural backgrounds.
I carry a backpack, filled with cash, a few changes of clothing, food, cooking utensils, a shaving kit, a few tools and Glyr.
Glyr appears to be a somewhat short sword, in a scabbard. However, Glyr is actually a demon. Glyr and I are exiles.
In order to be allowed to return home, Glyr and I must first do certain things for those
