    There are hundreds and hundreds of millions of people on social media. That’s a massive amount of people to try to imagine. Social media is a global phenomenon that has changed how the world operates. What used to be impossible is now a task completed with a few simple buttons. There are more people online every day than there has been ever before. Social media is growing at a rapid rate, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. Before we know it, we’ll likely be handed a cell phone at birth, never getting the chance to escape the online world.

    Here’s the best part. You can profit from those numbers and find ways to grow your business. What used to have to take ad campaigns, and days of deals to establish a prime spot can now be done all on our social media pages. To advertise a decade ago, you might have looked to your local paper, or maybe you could afford a spot on your local news channel. Now, you can make a post right where you’re sitting, exposing your brand and product to the hundreds of millions of people that get online every day.

    People not only want more content, but they’re hungry for it. Though there are so many people online, finding truly original content can be challenging. A lot of what we see is regurgitated — only thinking on the surface level of what their customers might want. Though people are still using more and more social media every day, that doesn’t mean we aren’t still desperate for something new. Not everything that’s a new idea always works, but when it does get it right, it explodes. Once a trend is discovered online, there’s a trickle effect on other brands to follow suit. Social media allows anyone to have that effect, to be the new trend. Now more than ever, social media users are desperate to find ways that they can use social media in an innovative way.

    Companies, no matter what their brand or product is, can find ways to benefit from the online world. There are multiple ways that we can find success online, so what might not work at first can be changed to something that brings more success. There are countless audiences out there waiting for our content, our products, and it’s our job to find them. Just because we don’t at first doesn’t mean that we can’t at all. There are so many different platforms, and methods of marketing within those social media, that we will always have a new way to try something when the first method might not work out exactly as we planned. If you’re a restaurant wanting to reach out to more people, or perhaps a B2B company looking to expand clients, you can feel confident knowing that you’ll find success with online marketing through social media. There aren’t just benefits in marketing on this larger company scale either. Independents looking to brand themselves will have a lot of success when they start expanding their brand online.

Customers respond well to individuals that sell themselves. We go online to feel more connected to people, and that goes just beyond the friends and family we already know. Following certain celebrities means that you get a peek into their lives, and it allows their followers to make personal connections with them. When you can do the same for your brand, you will have people responding positively while being able to also market your content and products.

    The point of using social media marketing is to get people to your website, and from there, they can spend their money on your products, or click on ads for more revenue to your business account. The better you are at understanding what works best in a successful ad campaign, the easier it will be for you to make money. As you grow online, you will start to discover that you can cash in on your brand in more ways than just what your original marketing attempts might have intended.

    The Internet provides many options for those looking for more in their lives. What is dissatisfactory in the real world can be resolved online. It provides an escape, a fantasy, and a glimpse at a life that’s different than our own. You can play games, meet new people, and even pretend you’re someone you’re not. You can go on there for love, for a job, or to connect with family. Whatever your intentions are when you open your phone, tablet, laptop, or even TV, you can be confident that they will be fulfilled. Beyond that, you will discover so much more in the process.

    In a world that’s so demanding of innovation and money, we tend to get lost with our intentions in this capitalist society. As soon as social media emerged, so did brand marketing within these platforms. Advertisements can sometimes be intrusive on people’s lives, and social media engineers have discovered this. Now, it seems to be the attempt of the top social media brands to offer their users a way to experience their app with less organic ads, and content that has more value for those using it. What there seems to be an emphasis on social media more now are interactions that are meaningful to users.

    There are over 7.5 billion people in the world, and that’s just an estimate on what’s recorded combined with an idea of what we can’t register. That’s a lot of people, and as time goes on, the number keeps growing. Centuries ago, sending a message could take months, years, or sometimes just be downright impossible. The world was more divided, not by differences but by geography and inability to communicate. Social media has bridged those gaps, and now there are endless ways we can communicate with more people globally than ever before.

    There are five billion cell phone users, four billion of them being on the Internet. That means, with a collection of the information we know, we can make the rough estimate that half of the people in the world are online. Who could have ever imagined 100, 50, 20 years ago, that we would be able to market our brand to half the people on the planet? We’ve known about famous people before, and we’ve seen international trends that changed the world as a whole but knowing that anyone is capable of that if they just get on social media is pretty wild to think about. There aren’t any Instagram accounts that are even close to that just yet, but in a few years, who knows who might be the first user to have 1 billion followers?
