Write Your Book Today The Master Guide to Writing a Bestselling Book - Roger Willis
Introduction
Is there a better way for a smart, busy person to turn their ideas into a book? And how can he or she do it in his or her voice?
That's a question I get a lot. If it's been on your mind too, then you've come to the right place. This book will give you the answer to these questions, but you'll also get step by step guidance on how to get your book done fast.
Almost every entrepreneur in today’s world knows the importance of getting a book out there with his or her name on it. It builds credibility, helps you share expertise, and connect with more of the right people. It can also pre-sell your products or services, especially if the content in the book is rich in educational value. The benefits are truly endless when it comes to leveraging a book to build your business or personal brand. Yet most entrepreneurs aren't doing it, and those that do attempt it seem to struggle their way into failure. Let's be honest. Writing a book is no easy task.
I know a lot of intelligent and accomplished people who come to me with great ideas. When I ask them why they haven't published a book yet, the response is usually the same, I hate writing
or I just don't have the time or bandwidth to commit to such a laborious task.
Both are very reasonable answers, and there was a time when I too, thought the only way to write a book was to commit to the complicated, time-consuming process of traditional writing. As a writer for many years, I am well aware that writing a book is no easy task. The process (whether you call it difficult or not) has always been enjoyable for me. I call it a labor of love. And I understand not everyone is willing to endure that labor just to share their ideas with the world.
The good news is you don't have to use the traditional path. There are better ways you and any other busy entrepreneur can leverage to make sure your wisdom, expertise, and ideas still reach the right people. I even share an effortless technique that you can leverage (thanks to modern technology) to write a book without ever typing a word.
My intention is precisely this for you as I write this book. By the end of this book, you'll finally be in a position to start or even finish your book and feel proud of the final product. But before we jump in, let's talk about your mindset. I want to help you wear the right mindset. Afterall, mindset is everything. The way you approach a project determines whether or not you'll be victorious or fail miserably.
What This Book Is Not
Whether you're doing this as a little fun side project or you want to make sure your startup journey has documented all as you build a successful empire, it's essential to set the right expectations and train yourself into a published author's mindset.
Many entrepreneurs write a book to make some book sales, getting some well-deserved recognition as a best seller, and even creating a pathway to speaking gigs. All of these are high expectations to have, but you must realize it will take time to go from a blank page to a bestseller book. Nothing happens in an instant, and you must embrace and enjoy the process. It's also important to recognize the different phases you'll have to go through before you can become successfully published.
This book will help you write a fantastic, high-quality book fast and in an easy to follow style. But you should know, it doesn't teach you how to launch, publish, and market your book. Marketing and selling your book require a different skill set, which I assume you'll work on learning as well.
If you stick with the principles shared in this book, you'll have (in a short while) a book that you can feel proud of as you launch it into the world, whether you choose to create a fiction or non-fiction book.
Since I know most entrepreneurs like to document their journey, share their insights, and tell their story, we will be focusing more on non-fiction writing. However, most of the principles shared can be applied to both fiction and non-fiction writing. And just for your convenience, in one of the chapters, I have included some content to help you with fiction
