Rabbi Joseph Weizenbaum tells a story that he says came out of Israel some years ago. It seems that Henry Kissinger, on finding himself suddenly unemployed, sent his résumé to the Israeli government. After all, he reasoned, he'd done a lot for Israel; they ought to reciprocate. So they looked in the file and found out there was only one available job—curator of the Tel Aviv zoo. To their surprise, Henry took the job, and they forgot about him. Suddenly, one day, someone woke up and realized that nothing had been heard from their inexperienced if overqualified curator for months, so they sent an inspector around to see how he was doing. The inspector went down to the zoo, and she saw that it was being perfectly cared for—if in a rather obsessive manner. The grounds were totally without litter.
