Bouncing my little boy, Saul, on my lap, I couldn’t believe how happy he was.

He was a cheery little boy and barely ever cried.

At first, I worried he was broken – no parenting book tells you what to do if your child refuses to bawl and howl.

But I soon learned that’s just the way he was, and I felt so lucky to have such a healthy and content boy.

Saul quickly grew into an energetic chatterbox.

He was a little geeky and I never had any trouble with him.

I could feel a lump on the side of his ribs

As well as behaving like an angel, he looked like one – he had blond, curly hair that ran down his back.

‘You’re my little superhero,’ I’d tell him whenever
