About this ebook

Why do we have to fight for what is Right? If it is Right, shouldn't it be the norm? There is one simple reason why we have been functioning in such a way that causes us to believe that Injustice, Tyranny, Bullying, Racism, Xenophobia, Child Abuse, Spousal Abuse, and Poverty, to name just some of our dysfunctions, are inevitable undesirable aspects of human nature. The cause has been hidden in plain sight. It is like the air, or water to a fish. I discovered it only because I was looking for it, but it took me a very long time to see what I was looking at. As Soon as a large enough portion of the global population gets a clear understanding of why human governments and societies are so illogical and tyrannical, we will be able to turn it all around. Believe it or not, the global Human family, armed with a new understanding and a simple and sensible game plan is quite capable of eliminating all forms of Tyranny. In Out of The Frying Pan: Into The Meadow I present the simple explanation of why we have been functioning the way we have for millennia. I give clear examples and offer the simple (though not necessarily easy) game plan for bringing Humanity into a healthy and logical state of functioning.

    Introduction

This book was originally intended to be an update of HOW TO PEACE, which was written during the G.W. Bush Administration. It has morphed into its own entity, but there are many parts of it that I have borrowed from the original which seemed fitting to include. I would also like to forewarn my readers that you may notice that I sometimes seem to repeat myself. In some cases it is for emphasis and in others it is because the same concept is pertinent in more than one instance.

Chapter 1: What’s all this nonsense?

Why do we always have to fight for what is right? If it is right, shouldn’t it just be? What is it we are not seeing that keeps tripping us up every time it looks like we’ve got the answer to doing it right? Why does evil keep winning?

The answer is right there in front of us, but we can’t see it, because it is like the air around us or the ocean to a fish. We don’t notice the air until it becomes so polluted that we notice that there is stuff in it that doesn’t belong there. That is why we must not blame ourselves, or our ancestors, for getting it wrong since the beginning of historical civilization.

Our having done it wrong for so long is the bad news, but we already knew that, so it’s not really news; now here’s the good news. We are at a point in human development at which we can change this scenario completely with one simple process. But first we must understand exactly what has been governing global human activity for millennia. It’s the paradigm, the pattern of functioning that determines societal behaviors. We can’t see it, but it governs our interactions with each other like a matrix. It is an entity unto itself, and therefor has within it a strong survival drive. Any time humanity tries to override its structure, it manipulates us back into its behavioral and attitudinal format. It is addicted to the power it has over us, and it does whatever it must to keep us feeding that addiction. But the current paradigm has one fatal weakness, and once that weakness is exposed, it becomes completely vulnerable to annihilation. That weakness is that it is based solely on one lie.

In the following chapters I will explain how and why this paradigm has held us prisoners in its web of chaos, nonsense, wars, hate, and fear, for millennia. I will also offer the simple process that will bring about the current paradigm’s dissolution, freeing us to establish a Truth-based paradigm within which all humanity can thrive.

    The Paradigm

Trying to establish true Justice in our current paradigm is like trying to grow potatoes in the ocean; we can start the plants on a boat in isolated pots of nurturing soil, but when we put them out into the ocean, the environment swallows them up.

We now have the technology to spread a global understanding of how and why specific elements of our current paradigm swallow up developing clusters of Peace and Justice cells the way phagocytes (white blood cells) in our immune systems engulf foreign bodies in order to maintain the status quo.

We must realize that since it was we ourselves, as Humanity, who created our own current oppression/lie-based paradigm, it stands to reason that we, again as Humanity, armed with new understandings, are perfectly capable of creating a Truth-based paradigm with which we can replace it.

Throughout history, we humans have accepted clichés such as It’s human nature.; You can’t change human nature. That’s just the way things are.; and It’s the natural cycle.. These sentiments have been spoken so frequently and for so long that we have come to attribute their continued acceptance to truth. But as true as we may accept them to be, on the surface and in our functioning, deep down most of us have a niggling feeling in our guts, screaming silently that things are not really as they could or should be, and that there is a glitch in the works that is skewing everything in this distorted norm of ours. We should definitely be paying attention to that niggling scream, because it is right on. After all, is it really acceptable that we have to fight for what is right? Shouldn’t Right be the norm?

Are we all victims of Stockholm Syndrome?

In 1973, when hostages were kept for 6 days in a bank vault in Stockholm Sweden due to a bank heist gone wrong, the hostages developed an attachment to their captors and even ended up fearing that they themselves would be harmed by their liberators. How could that happen?

Why do battered wives become more and more devoted to their husbands as the abuse escalates. Why do young people join gangs or terrorist groups? Why are cults able to entice and keep members who become more and more devoted as the abuse from leaders escalates?

Why are tyrants allowed to rule countries? Why do legislative bodies pass laws that restrict human or societal rights for specific groups, or even pass laws that cause outright unjustifiable harm?

Why are large segments of the population pushed into poverty while big business is allowed to manipulate our incomes; our health care; the food we eat; the water we drink; the toxins we are exposed to; and the destruction of our planet?

These are all the same question with one simple answer; It’s the paradigm! By that I mean the pattern that serves as the basis upon which our global societies function.

If you look at the issues mentioned above, you’ll see that none of these situations makes any sense what-so-ever, and yet, humanity has come to accept them as our norm. We may see them as challenges to be overcome and fixed, but we still see them as inevitable, never-ending challenges.

    THEY ARE NOT INEVITABLE.

THEY NEED NOT EXIST AT ALL.

    Really!

They only exist within the current paradigm upon which civilization has been functioning for millennia. We are still functioning within a paradigm that was established long before the general population could read and write. In fact, it was probably established before anyone could read and write. It was probably set up before people started worshiping graven images, or maybe they started at the same time, since they are both hierarchical.

Perhaps it served a legitimate purpose when it was established; I wasn’t there so I can’t even begin to understand what that purpose could have been. I do know that it is far from legitimate now. Perhaps it became distorted along the way, all those millennia ago, but the basis for that paradigm was, and always has been, as invalid as the concept of spontaneous generation.

(There was a time when even some educated individuals believed the theory that living things could spontaneously generate from nonliving or non-like things, such as rats and roaches spontaneously being generated or created, without parents, from mounds of trash. The evidence was overwhelming.)

Does the paradigm’s seniority give us a reason to continue functioning on it? Should we continue to believe the theory of spontaneous generation, now that we know better?

There is a reason we continue in this paradigm.

As I have said, a paradigm is a bit like air (or water to marine life) in that we don’t consider it. We don’t see it as we go about our daily lives; we just function within it, not noticing the many ways it governs our behaviors. But when air becomes so polluted that it turns to smog, it demands our notice so that our behaviors concerning it become more deliberate. Our paradigm is well past the smog state, but besides the fact that most of humanity have never realized that it exists as a determining factor, there is another explanation for why we continue to function on it.

The survival drive of any entity comes into play and triggers the adaptation mode whenever the entity encounters adversity. Paradigms are entities; the longer they exist the stronger their survival drive. The paradigm itself generates the environment that serves its own well-being, and it uses us to perpetuate it. This explains the perpetuation of behavior patterns found in Stockholm Syndrome, Battered Wife Syndrome, as well as cult and gang membership and being drawn into terrorist groups. It also explains the perpetuation of the chaotic patterns of civilization throughout history.

Stockholm syndrome could only have happened because the pattern was already established; we are already victims of it in our day-to-day lives. Captives simply shift allegiance to the powers that be in each particular situation. It is the same with cults. Only people looking for answers in a familiar religious-type of structure join the extreme structure of a religious cult. Someone to whom religion makes no sense is not drawn to leaders like David Koresh or Jim Jones, who lead their followers to violent self-destruction, after having convinced them it was permissible to abuse and/or kill their own children for the sake of their leader. But our entire hierarchical global society has conditioned us to function according to its ground rules. We are adept at adapting to new situations within that hierarchy; within that paradigm. It is in that paradigm’s own interests that we be so trained.

So, what is the basis of this paradigm that creates the survival need to adapt to such horrendous and nonsensical situations? Why do Tyranny and Poverty win out to become accepted aspects of our global community? That too has a simple explanation: this paradigm is based on the single ridiculous and virulent lie,

"that some people have the right

to have power over other people".

There is no such right; there never has been such a right,

but that is the basis upon which our global societies have been functioning for millennia.

The reason the current Lie-based Paradigm not only allows and encourages, but actually demands the horrors of Tyranny, Oppression, Poverty, Cults, Spousal and Child Abuse, Human Trafficking, Bullying, Rape, Murder, Exploitation, Terrorism, Racism, Xenophobia, Slavery and Enforced Ignorance is because it requires all that to keep us believing the lie at its base.

Our adaptations are fear based. Believe it or not, even the Tyrants base their tyrannical behaviors on the fear of not being able to survive, so they strive to be at the top, out of a constantly intensifying fear of someone’s having power over them. Driven by their paranoia, Tyrants are the most frightened, lonely people on earth. They have to constantly escalate their bullying to enormous heights, because they are so scared of being overpowered, they have lost their ability to function on a normal humane level, and they know it.

    Now here’s the good news:

    While the Truth is self-sustaining,

a Lie must be believed to exist.

Could it be as simple as recognizing the lie for what it is? Could it be that once a large enough number of our human family recognize the Lie; stop believing the Lie; and refuse to function on that Lie, that the paradigm will shrivel up and blow away for lack of nourishment?

Yes. Yes, that’s true, BUT old patterns are difficult to break, and if we do not establish the pattern of a Truth-based Paradigm to which we can shift, before the Lie-based Paradigm fully disintegrates, we risk falling into another Lie-based paradigm or back into this one.

It is so important for everyone to realize, and never forget, that the Lie-based paradigm is an entity unto itself, and like any other entity it has a strong survival drive. It will do anything in its power to keep humans under its control. But good news for us, and bad news for the paradigm; its sole source of nourishment is the LIE. (I discuss why the lie is so fragile in chapter 4.)

A good example of how this paradigm controls humanity’s best intentions is the USSR. Believe it or not, the Bolsheviks tried to shift to a fair and equitable society, but because they didn’t realize that the current paradigm would not accommodate an oppression-free system, its installation could only be accomplished by violence which resulted in a new oppressive system. The new system could only function within the oppressive policies of the current paradigm, which is why it spawned paranoid leaders like Stalin. When the USSR collapsed, the paradigm was still in control so very little changed.

A friend of mine who grew up under, and escaped from that regime once told me that the message of the government to the people of the USSR was that they were not yet a Communist nation, but only striving toward it. They would only achieve that high level of functioning when people would go into a supply warehouse and only take as much as they needed and leave the rest for others.

The founders of the United States worked very hard to establish a tyranny-free society, but they also did not realize that this paradigm would not allow it. Just because the system in the United States is less tyrannical than many other societies, doesn’t mean we are functioning outside of the current paradigm. The founders must have had an inkling that something was in the way when they included the words more perfect union in the Constitution, but it looks as though they could not figure out just what the stumbling block was that prevented the Union from achieving actual perfection.

It most likely did not occur to them that acquiring land from the indigenous peoples by murderous theft had already tainted their noble endeavor. And when they tried to eliminate the inhumane kidnapping and enslavement of fellow global family members, they were unable to get this new country established without including slavery as a right. Unbeknownst to them, Slavery and Manifest Destiny were offerings to appease the paradigm, in order to gain its permission to establish a new country, and this paradigm has been collecting its extortion fees ever since.

Paradigm shifts have not been easily accomplished in the past, but this shift may actually be easier than we expect. This is because we will not be shifting within the confines of the Lie-based Paradigm; we will be shedding it completely. We now have the tools of global communication that were not available before. Those tools have allowed humanity to set the stage for a clean shift.

We are already responding to the globally shared nigglings in our collective gut. With the exception of a comparatively few not-yet-evolved hangers on, people no longer accept the lie that men in powerful positions are entitled to sexually abuse women (or in some cases, men). Also, we now recognize the abuse imposed upon us by the oligarchical power of large corporations like tobacco companies, big pharma, assault weapons manufacturers and their supporters, agricultural chemical companies, huge food conglomerates, fossil fuel conglomerates, etc. and we are beginning to hold them responsible for the crimes they perpetrate against humanity and our planet.

At the time of this writing they are still enjoying most of the protections this paradigm provides, but as soon as humanity reaches the tipping point of understanding that it is the Lie-based Paradigm that has
