Faith truly understood is not one size fits all. The journey in uncovering your unique belief system is deeply and profoundly personal and involves far more than merely imitating the faith of others. It involves the process of patiently uncovering the lessons that can be derived from your own unique life experiences within an arena of quiet reflection and meditation. This is a road that few travel for this journey often weaves its way through many a darkened and dank alley of buried but not forgotten unfortunate experiences. Understanding however that nothing happens by chance, even these experiences will become the stepping stones of your growth and development. That being so, all of life’s experiences be they pleasant or unpleasant will become your quiet instructors on the road to your best and highest self.

This journey involves two major components. The first necessitates that you make yourself a priority by establishing a daily place of meeting, your own unique spirit space. This place can be anywhere that makes you feel safe and secluded while affording you time for moments of reflection. Decorate this place in a manner that is meaningful for you. You may want to include portraits of significant people in your life, incense or trinkets from significant moments on your journey. On the other hand, this daily place of meeting can be outdoors where the sky itself is your canopy and the grass your carpet. At any rate, you are free to meet with your spirit self in any place of your choosing. Make this place your own sanctuary be it portable or stationary, its construction is totally up to you. The second component involves daily reflection and journaling. Your journaling can be as simple as notes in the margin of this book or as elaborate as a bound writer’s journal. It is however important to have a way of gauging your progress on this journey and reviewing past journal entries are perfect for that. In your journal record your prayers, hopes, concerns and affirmations. The only key is that you write what your really feel, writing as though no one will ever read those notes but you.

Another key to remember is that this is not a race. There is no prize for swift completion; the only merits of this journey come through the true contemplation that the meditations bring about, even if it takes you several days or weeks to get the full value of any one meditation. Your spirit will let you know when it is time to move on or when there are elements of your journey that need to be reviewed before you can move on with a sense of integrity. Follow your spirit
