About this ebook

This essay chronicles the activities of the NSA that alarmed the nation after Edward Snowden's revelation. It avoids bias and evaluates the critics and the governments position in the concept of security issues. The ideals of a democracy are also briefly discussed with a clear evaluation of arguments from either side of the spectra.

    Chapter 1

    Preface

Res dura, et regni novitas me talia cogunt Moliri, et late fines custode tueri[1]

(Against my will, my fate, A throne unsettled, and an infant state, Bid me defend my realms with all my powers, And guard with these severities my shores.)

My pure intention for publishing this essay is to give the general public a brief insight on the current state of affairs. This essay mainly chronicles the activities of the NSA and the debate that stemmed from the revelations of Edward Snowden. Before proceeding further one must realize two elements. Primarily, the factual element of Snowden’s revelations to The Guardian and secondarily, the philosophical element that although man vies for perfection, he can never achieve it and his creation reflects that very imperfection. Any government is bound to err but again the whole idea of a democracy is that it is by the people. We must be involved in national politics or alienate ourselves from it and by doing the latter we shall face an uncertain future. My hope is that you will read this essay with interest because your interest in such affairs shall determine the future of your children. Neither fiction nor celebrities gossip will do you any good in attaining valuable knowledge regarding the discrepancies of the government. Finally, it is in the nature of man to be inquisitive about the events that occur around him, and in writing this essay I have done nothing else other than express my pure nature.

    Discourse

As sentient beings, it is necessary to realize the importance of a legitimate government and be able to comprehend its proper functions. The human conscience has long maintained the idea that any form of government that guarantees rights to the people is just, and that very guarantee of justness lends it legitimacy for its existence. Any form of rule that is imposed upon the peoples of a sovereign nation should be flexible and suit the needs of the common man. A government must be formed for the greater good of the common citizen; this can be considered the grail upon which new forms of government were born. Communism was supposed to have
