- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is an exciting book about Jett Ryder who dares to be the best with his motocross stunts. The miraculous thing is he is only 12 years old. When Jett and his best friend Mika come up with jumping over Mount Etna, they quickly realize that would be impossible. But, could they jump over hot lava? With the family quickly on board, they all travel to Italy to witness Mount Etna...a still active volcano! Will he be brave enough to jump the hot lava and land safely on the other side? This book is not only a wonderful story, but also included is a glossary and a great story of Mount Etna and Vicki Golden. This is a beautiful hardback book written by Sean Petrie and illustrated by Carl Pearce. I was lucky enough to win this book from LibraryThing! I look forward to having this in my Little Free Library! The kids are going to love it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My husband enjoys motocross, and has sparked an interest in me. It was also popular with many of my students, particularly males, in the past. I believe that this book would have been popular with my students and would have engaged some of the reluctant readers. Although there wasn't much to the story aside from motocross, it would be a good read for young students. There even is a motocross rider named Jett, the same name as the main character. Overall a good read for young students interested in motocross.

Chapter 1
Jett Ryder gazed at the massive mountain in the distance. Even from far away,
he said, it makes you feel small.
He was in a park south of Seattle with his best friend, Mika Moore. They both lived close by. It was a clear day, and Mount Rainier dominated the horizon, even though it was nearly a hundred miles to the south.
It’s a giant,
said Mika. Luckily, it’s sleeping.
Sleeping?
asked Jett.
Mount Rainier is a volcano. But it hasn’t erupted since 1894.
Mika was a history buff. She had more random facts about the past than any other twelve-year-old he knew. She probably even knew more than some adults. "Imagine if
