About this ebook

The War might not yet be over, but for a short time, can Marion still find some romance?

One Saturday during the early summer of 1943, Marion Hammond, an SOE operative, temporarily assigned to the Admiralty in Alexandria, Egypt, as an interrogation officer, is sunbathing at Stanley Beach with her best friend, Patricia Howes, also an SOE agent.

Thomas Bradley, an officer in the 1st Derbyshire Yeomanry, is on a 7-Day pass at Alexandria. Even though the war in North Africa is over, he is fully aware his fighting days are far from finished. Before his leave has hardly started, he receives orders to return to his regiment by no later than the following Tuesday. For now, though, he is delighted in striking up a conversation with a beautiful brunette at a popular beach.

Marion and Thomas are immediately attracted to each other, and the friendship quickly develops into romance. But will the passion last when Thomas leaves to do his duty?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of erotic romance, with two feisty heroines out to secure their men by initiating unexpected sexual orgies.

PUBLISHER NOTE: Historical Wartime Romance. M/F, (M/F/M/F Orgy), (F/F). All characters depicted in this work of fiction are 18 years of age or older.

    PROLOGUE

    Sunday, 20th October, 1940

    Old Hunstanton, England

It seemed fitting that the weather had been dull and grey. It had been threatening rain since the previous afternoon.

The church service that Sunday morning at St. Mary’s had included several memorial prayers for the local men who had fallen in battle during the war of 1914-1918, and those who had recently lost their lives during this current outrage brought upon them by Germany. Amongst the names honoured was that of Michael Young, an air force pilot, killed in action somewhere over the English Channel during a dogfight with a German counterpart.

Michael had been engaged to be married to Marion Hammond, whom he’d known since childhood, and their hopes of a long life together were snuffed out in the blink of an eye when his aircraft exploded, leaving nothing of him but a memory.

Dressed, appropriately, in black from head to toe, Marion now strolled in silence slowly along the lane running alongside the church, arm-in-arm with her best friend, Patricia Howes.

The two had met at Cambridge, where they both were studying classical languages. It was then, that they had learned the two of them were living not too far apart, be it about fifteen miles; Patricia’s home being on the outskirts of King’s Lynn. However, where Patricia’s father and siblings were now serving in the air force, and she too had signed up for the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, Marion’s family had traditionally been seafaring, her father being the only one to break this long succession by joining the army, his argument being that he preferred to keep both his feet on dry land as long as he could. Her own older siblings, however, had kept up the family tradition.  Her brother, William was on a Leander-class light cruiser somewhere at sea, whilst her sister Jennifer was serving with the Women’s Royal Navy, based in Plymouth.

Being the youngest of the three, Marion had not yet decided whether to join the navy or follow in her father’s footsteps, but when war broke out it seemed fitting to honour the family’s long tradition.

Now, however, everything had changed, and she no longer wanted to sit quietly at home doing menial, be they essential, tasks, whilst others were doing something more serious to crush those horrid creatures who had taken the life of the man she’d loved. She too was now ready to strike back.

Was Jennifer not able to get any leave to be here with you today? Patricia asked, breaking the silence.

Unfortunately, not; it seems her skills are needed elsewhere, and she can’t be spared! Marion replied bitterly.

Patricia felt sorry for her friend, who was currently living alone at home. Both her parents were currently in Cairo, Egypt. When her father had been posted there, her mother decided to join her husband.

Fortunately, Michael’s parents looked in on her from time to time. His father, being a policeman, was regarded as essential personnel, had been exempted from war service.

I was speaking with Michael’s dad the other day, Marion began, he told me he’d heard of an organisation that had started up in London last year but was only officially approved of by the government a few months ago, whose sole purpose is to cause as much havoc and disruption to the enemy.

Sounds dangerous, as I expect to do such a thing, they’d be working behind enemy lines! Patricia remarked.

I’m thinking about applying to join them, Marion said firmly.

Patricia stopped walking, bringing her friend to a halt, and turned to look at Marion head-on.

    You can’t be serious!

    Marion nodded.

I can’t sit here anymore and feel I’m doing nothing. Michael died protecting us, Marion explained, tears unashamedly trickling down her cheeks. I want to avenge his death!

    There are other ways, surely?

    Like what?

You could ask your dad to pull a few strings, and have you transferred to Egypt, Patricia said. I hear they have captured lots of Italians.

    So, what? Marion interrupted.

You could interrogate them? Or translate any captured documents?

    Marion shook her head.

No, she said firmly, my mind is made up. . ., I’ll be going to London tomorrow and joining the Special Operations Executive, if they’ll have me.

In which case, I’ll be coming with you.

Why? I thought you were enjoying your work with the air force?

If you think, tinkering with aircraft engines, or doing some paperwork, is fun, then you’re wrong, Patricia told her. Besides, I’m not going to let you go someplace where you’ll be alone; at this point in time, you need a friend by you, and I am, she.

There was a pause in their conversation, as both women just stared into each other’s eyes.

I’m tagging along tomorrow, whether you like it or not! Patricia confirmed.

Marion leaned forward and kissed her friend on the cheek, then, grabbing hold of her arm again, resumed their walk.

    THREE YEARS LATER….

    Saturday, 10th July, 1943

    Alexandria, Egypt

I shouldn’t do that if I were you!

Marion stopped dead in her tracks and glanced over her shoulder. Her friend, Patricia had raced on ahead and had dived straight into the gentle waves that were caressing the shore at Stanley Beach. The speaker was stretched out on the sand, propped up on his elbows looking at her. A thin smile on his lips.

Are you speaking to me? she asked, a slight annoyance in her voice.

I was. Swimming on a full stomach is never advisable.

I only had an ice cream.

    Even worse—

How do you know such things! she interrupted him. Are you a doctor?

    He shook his head.

No, but I read a lot.

Well then, you’re not my medical practitioner, and I don’t normally take advice from strangers, so if you’ll excuse me, my friend is waiting.

Of course; but as the Irish say: ‘a stranger is a friend you haven’t yet met’.

    Are you Irish?

    No—

But you read a lot, Marion said, finishing off his sentence, and followed through with a laugh.

    He scrambled to his feet.

Excuse my manners, he said, arm extended, offering his hand in friendship. My name is Thomas; Thomas Bradley.

As she took it in hers, her eyes never left his. They were a rich chestnut colour, and like his lips, they were smiling at her.

    Hello, I’m Marion Hammond.

Well, then, Marion, as we are no longer strangers, would you like to go for a swim?

What happened to the ‘you shouldn’t swim on a full stomach’?

You only had an ice cream… He laughed as
