Indigenous Studies Faculty (Tenure track) Department of Interdisciplinary Programs Regina Campus

The Department of Interdisciplinary Programs at First Nations University of Canada is accepting applications for a tenure track position within its Indigenous Studies unit at the Regina Campus. The successful candidate will have the competence to instruct from an Indigenous perspective, should be able to work in a trans-disciplinary context, and will be expected to teach a variety of introductory, senior undergraduate, and graduate courses. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to engage in relevant research, scholarship, and community service within Aboriginal communities. Areas of instruction within the Indigenous Studies unit include: Indigenous knowledge related to Natural Resource development planning and traditional ecological knowledge related to Natural Resource development; introductory courses, Indigenous culture, identity, gender issues, history, and society; Indigenous law, politics, history, economics, geographic, and environmental systems; Indigenous spirituality, religion, and philosophy; and Indigenous research methods. Knowledge of several of those areas would be an asset. Applicants should hold a Ph.D., though consideration may be given to those nearing completion of a Ph.D. who clearly demonstrate commitment to research and teaching excellence. Experience working, teaching, or living in a First Nations environment and the ability to speak a First Nations language are considered assets. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be effective August 15, 2012. Relocation assistance is available.
