Tiger Woods was playing golf on television at two years old. Rather fanatical statements. Radical ideas. Devoted and committed people and goals. We learn these in school and many times repeat them during the course of life. No one can deny their benefit or accomplishments. Due rewards are received and a showering of accolades. However, as with most things in life, people approach various situations with their own perspectives; sometimes out of ignorance or innocence; other times out of more nefarious intentions. Muslims in the USA have been exposed to these new terms. Terms that were never used in the Islamic world. Terms that have been used to describe Muslims in many ways. A fanatic is someone who has unreasoning enthusiasm. A radical, fundamentalist and extremist can and are used in many instances interchangeable. Usually typed in the same sentence for a resounding effect upon the reader. The term, islamist, is new for all muslims because according to Islam, all Muslims are supposed to live by Islam. American Muslims come in all shapes and sizes, colors and shades, and all corners of the Earth. You can find blonde-haired, blue-eyed of European-descent, and dark-skinned of African descent, Chinese, Malaysian, Arab and Indo-Pak. Wherever one goes, one can come across Islam and Muslims. The stereotype should have died hundreds of years ago. So if Muslims did not invent these terms, then who did?
