Bioremediation: Natures Way to a Cleaner Future Reaction Paper

The Naga City Government Environment Program focuses on three major concerns namely, solid waste management, water/river quality and air quality. Rapid urbanization, high population growth rate fueled by in-migration and increasing investments brought drastic changes in the citys financial and physical landscape (http://naga.gov.ph/ecological-profile/waste-management/). Its really good to know that the government has good plans for the city. At least, the people can see literally, where their taxes are spent for. The talk by Mr. .. was so informative, I have learned deeper about the problems that the City is facing and most importantly, the actions of the government to solve these issues. Accordingly, Naga City generates approximately 85.8 tons of waste per year, based on the latest 2009 estimates, where agricultural waste makes up a little more than one-fourth (26%) of the total volume. Food wastes make up a slightly smaller share at 23%. Paper- based materials compose 12%, while the other material categories are spread out in smaller percentages. But, those are just solid wastes. Studies revealed that liquid waste is becoming a major concern for the city. One of the Governments actions to this is the septage management ordinance where the city will be very strict in the compliance of proper waste treatment by housing and establishment owners. Also, there will be a plan to construct a Waste-energy Powerplant in Brgy. San Isidro, Naga City. The tons of garbage in the Balatas dumping site will be treated and processed to become a source of energy for the households in Naga City. Furthermore, I like the plan to reconstruct the bridges of Naga Centro specifically, Magsaysay Bridge, Colgante Bridge, Panganiban Bridge and Tabuco Bridge respectively, also the idea to have water transportation through boats. I understand that in solving these issues, the Government cant succeed all by themselves; the people should learn to cooperate and practice discipline. I am really excited of the projects that the Government will be implementing for the Nagueos and I am really willing to take part on this.
