Maryhill College Basic Education Department SY 2011-2011 PROFESSIONAL READING REPORT for the month of JUNE This article

was taken from the Principles of Growth and Human Development : The Mans rights : The Virtue of Selfishness by Ayn Rand, www.timnovate. wordpress.com during my Masteral subject Psychological and Psychosocial Foundations of Education. Everyman is in certain aspects like all other men, like some other men, no other man. (Murray, H.A. & C. Kluckhohn). These were the remarkable lines taken from the said article. As I read the quotation, It is really hard to understand at first. As I interpret it, I arrived to this perception. Men are like all other men because they all undergo a singular or similar pattern of stage-by-stage development during birth. They started almost equally at the same pace. All of the determinants and physical characteristics are present to all of them at birth. Men are like some other men in a sense that some of them share the same interest, talents, needs and desires for survival and satisfaction. People have something in common and that is to undergo adaptation to change and development. Some men might be the same because they are oriented to the same culture, beliefs and traditions. Lastly, man is no other man because I believe that individuals have their own significant differences. Peoples way of thinking, perceiving and reacting varies from one person to another. Even an identical twin has their distinctive characteristics from one another. Men are born unique.

Basic Education Department SY 2011-2011 PROFESSIONAL READING REPORT for the month of JULY This article was taken from the Principles of Growth and Human Development : Youre God Unfinished Project at http://bosanchez.ph, Improving the Organization and Management of extension by M. W. Waldron, J. Vsanthakumar, and S. Arulraj during my Masteral subject Psychological and Psychosocial Foundations of Education.. Man is an unfinished project. He is always in the process of becoming. These were the remarkable lines taken from the said article. Human is a special creation that undergoes change and development during his entire life span. This development covers from the moment he is conceived by his mother and to the moment he opens himself to the ever changing world of challenges, failures, success and opportunities that hone up his intellectual, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual and other aspects of development. He is considered as an unfinished project in such a way that he is compared to a bottomless coin bank or any container with only few content on it. I say bottomless because I believe that human beings have infinite search for knowledge and experiences to satisfy their wants and needs in life. I also believe that individuals are not a tabula rasa or blank slate at birth, I also believe that human being has innate instincts and gradual learning intuitions. As he grows old, his body, mind and experiences also mature and continue to develop. This is the time when this coin bank was starting to get many contents on it. Man is always in the process of becoming because they always search for satisfaction. They always wanted to adapt, to be included, and to be the best of what they are. That is why they always lead to the development and discovery of the things that will satisfy their curiosity.

Basic Education Department SY 2011-2011 PROFESSIONAL READING REPORT for the month of AUGUST This article was taken from the Principles of Growth and Human Development : The World As I See It , http://open-site.org/Society/Philosophy/Education, http://www.intentiononeearth.com during my Masteral subject Psychological and Psychosocial Foundations of Education. My dear children: I rejoice to see you before me today, happy youth of a sunny and fortunate land. Bear in mind that the wonderful things that you learn in your schools are the work of many generations, produced by enthusiastic effort and infinite labor in every country of the world. All this is put into your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honour it, and add to it, and one day faithfully hand it on to your children. Thus do we mortals achieve immortality in the permanent things which we create in common. If you always keep that in mind you will find meaning in life and work and acquire the right attitude towards other nations and ages. (Albert Einstein talking to a group of school children. 1934). These were the remarkable lines taken from the said article. This is the utterance made by Albert Einstein for mankind. He is gladdened to see all of the creations of his time were successful to meet the needs of everyone. He reminds us that everything around us is the product of the minds of some curious men from all over the world. Advancements brought about great change in every individuals upbringing and development. Everything is connected to everything as the law of nature says. The undiminished efforts and enthusiasm of yesteryears are reflected in our ways of living today. These were also the fruit of mens continuous search for satisfaction. New technological devices are invented and new formulations are discovered every now and then. All of the things around us are just manipulated by only a push of a button. In a single blink of an eye everything can change and anything can happen. Nowadays, ways of lives are becoming as instant as it is. Life always gets better but we must bear in mind that we should not abuse the privileges handed to us by our ancestors. We should honor the fruit of their labor properly and use it productively. If things have advantages, it also have disadvantages if not use properly. Learning how to appreciate every little thing around us can give satisfaction and happiness among us. Always find meaning in everything we do. I was inspired by this message because among all scientists, I like Einstein most. He was one of the greatest people on earth who started from the humblest beginnings. Eventhough, at first he was characterized as a problem child who always fails in class, he continued to search and feed his curiosity with information that interest him most. He was a concrete example of intellect and will. In connection, we must create better attitudes on everything we do and appreciate the things around us. Prepared By: Ms. Jennifer L. SY 2011-2011 PROFESSIONAL READING REPORT for the month of SEPTEMBER PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN DEVELPOPMENT AND THEIR EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS This article was taken from the Principles of Growth and Human Development : Human Growth and Development - A Matter of Principles by Novella J. Ruffin, Human Development, Education and Economic Development by Ray T. Kes http://education.calumet.purdue.edu/vockell/edPsybook/Edpsy4/edpsy4_principles.htm, www.TeacherVision.com during my Masteral subject Psychological and Psychosocial Foundations of Education. The following are some of the important principles and their implications in our Education. 1. The rate of change is unique to an individual. There are what we call the fast learners and slow learners at school. The former can easily adapt to the changes while the latter may take some time to cope up with the things that he shoud learn. It implies that it is normal for students to have different abilities, knowledge and skills because they have various rates of development. *Do not force students on things that they do not know yet. Such readiness for an activity is determined by his rate of development. 2. There are individual differences in development. Children have a predictable pattern of development but still they are exposed to different upbringings by their family. These affect their development as an individual. Physical development contributes mainly on inherited characteristics while intellectual and social growth depends primarily on education exposure, family orientation and environment. *Involve students on the world around them, respect their individualities and patiently wait for them to be ready act on something. 3. Development is the product of maturation and learning. As mentioned earlier, development is the product of both maturation and environmental influences. As people grow old, their knowledge, skills and attitudes also increase through experiences, exposures and imitations through the environment that they live in. *Students should learn by doing. Active learning should be the core of every curriculum.

4. There are social expectations for every developmental period which are often referred to as developmental tasks. Growth and maturation involve social responsibilities expected for each individual. Each developmental period vary from one stage to another. As people grow old, his responsibilities increase to meet the demands of his ever changing world. *Students should be given the chances to show and to express their talents and skills on doing various things that will further help them to develop maturely.

PROFESSIONAL READING REPORT for the month of OCTOBER This article was taken from the Human Behavior in Organization : Robbins, Stephen P. Organizational Behavior - Concepts, Controversies, Applications. 4th Ed. Prentice Hall (2004), Motivation and Personality, Third Edition, Harper and Row Publishers, http://www.scribd.com/doc/18923623/Organization-Need-People-and-People-Need-Organization, http://humanresources.about.com/b/2010/10/06/what-organizations-need.htm during my Masteral subject Human Behavior in Organization. People are group of person considered as together while an organization is a business or administrative concern united and constructed for s particular end. Organization needs people and people need organization, both are the two sides of the same coin. Without people, organization cannot achieve their goals, and vice versa without organization people cannot fulfill their needs and desires .So both the organization and people are mutually interdependent on each other. Organization needs people because an organization is a planned coordination of a number of people and their activities for the achievement of some specific goals through division of labor and hierarchy of authority The organization is divided into distinct departments like marketing, production, finance, and personnel and all the department need people who are master in their fields and are able to achieve organization goals and objectives. Employees or workers are the most essential factors of business. People need organization for earning money as salary and to increase standard of living. People want beings, they always looking for a comfortable life, a sense of accomplishment, a world of peace and beauty, security, self respect and social recognition. So to fulfill these desires and wants, people need a platform and thus the organization gives the platform. Another example which supports the fact that organization needs people and people need organization is the opening of any fast food chain. Now a day food chains are most common, we can see fast foods even in small cities. So fast food chains need many people for running the business and people also need organization for earning money, job, and high standard of living. Examples are Mang Inasal Branch which was opened recently 2 months ago in Lucena Bayan. They need people in various departments such as front desk, serving staff, utility personnel etc. so that they can run the business properly. Vice versa people also need these food chain or organization for job, for earning good salary which help to raise their standard of living. To build up this good mutual relationship trust is right up there with constant communication to identify the most powerful opportunities organizations have to build relationships with their employees .Then, lastly we can say that it is true that organization need people, people need organization. for the month of NOVEMBER HUMAN BEHAVIOR IN ORGANIZATION This article was taken from the Importance of Vision and Mission in an Organization : http://www.referenceforbusiness.com/management/Mar-No/Mission-and-Vision-Statements.html, http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/ndu/strat-ldr-dm/pt4ch18.html, http://smallbusiness.findlaw.com/employment-employer/employment-employer-other/employmentemployer-other-policies-handbook.html, http://www.mbaknol.com/management-concepts/conceptof-workplace-spirituality/ during my Masteral subject Human Behavior in Organization. Vision defines a desired future and helps guide all who accept and understand it. While the mission or purpose is the answer to the question "why?" Vision and mission-making work can serve you in carrying out your leadership role, unifying your efforts and building alignment and loyalty among employees. However, far more important than having mission and vision statements is having a clear mission and vision. An organizational mission is an organization's reason for existence. It often reflects the values and beliefs of top managers in an organization. A mission statement is the broad definition of the organizational mission. It is sometimes referred to as a creed, purpose, or statement of corporate philosophy and values. A good mission statement inspires employees and provides a focus and direction for setting lower level objectives. It should guide employees in making decisions and establish what the organization does. Mission statements are crucial for organizations to prosper and grow. While studies suggest that they have a positive impact on profitability and can increase shareholder equity, they also support that almost 40 percent of employees do not know or understand their company's mission. Once the vision statement has been drafted, discussed, improved and accepted, it will guide decision making and goal setting, saving you and others tremendous time and effort in the longrun. Making a statement memorable and inspiring is optional, but a helpful intention. If these conditions are being met, then you can go forward with communicating this important information to everyone in the organization and, if appropriate, the outside world. Such written statements can be used to develop a clearer position in the marketplace, for strategic planning, and to quickly qualify job candidates and orient new-hires. If the statements are implemented as a tool for dialogue and feedback, the content need not be presented as the definitive "final word" but rather a (perpetual) working draft.
