    What will the new FM 1709/ Northwest Highway bridge look like?

    The new six-lane bridge will connect FM 1709 and Northwest Highway. When opened to full capacity later this year, the bridge will have nine lanes and a Texas U-turn on the east side. **NOTE: Access will change to some businesses as a result of this traffic switch. Gateway Plaza shopping center businesses can be reached using FM 1709.

    *Please note: Northwest Highway free-right turn to the westbound SH 114 frontage road will not open at this time.

    *Please note: This portion of Gateway Drive will not be open at this time.

    Northwest Highway/Gateway Drive and FM 1709/Wall Street bridge closures

    Date and Time: 8 PM on Friday, August 3 to 6 AM on Monday, August 6 Detour: Northwest Highway will be detoured to Kimball Avenue (green). FM 1709 will be detoured to the eastbound SH 114 frontage road (U-turn; purple).
