Remembrance Day!

By grade 3R

Introduction Today is Remembrance day. On this day 112 years ago in 1918, World War 1 came to an end. Today we remember all the people that died in the war and sacrificed their lives to make peace. On this Remembrance Day we will spend some time in grateful thought for the sacrifice preserved for us the freedoms that we enjoy. Well honour their memory in our silence and our prayers.

Righteous people are protected by God and will never suffer torment. Its is a foolish mistake to think that the righteous people die and that their death is the terrible evil. They leave us, but it is not a disaster. In fact, righteous are the peace. It might appear that they have suffered punishment, but they have the confident hope of immortality. Their sufferings were minor compared with the blessing they will receive. God has tested them, like gold in a furnace, and found them worthy to be with him. He has accepted them, just as he accepts the sacrifice which his worshipers burn on the altar. Those who have put their trust in God will come to understand the truth of his ways. Those who have been faithful will live with him in his love, for he is kind and merciful to the ones whom he has chosen.

We pray that we in our school community may continue to treat each other with respect and dignity, so that we may live peacefully together Lord hear us All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow between the crosses, row on row, that mark our place; and in the sky the lakes, still bravely singing, fly scarce heard amid the guns below.

We cherish , too, the poppy red that grows on fields where valor led; it seems to signal to the skies that blood of heroes never dies , but lends a luster to the red of the flower that blooms above the dead in Flanders fields.

And now the torch and poppy red we wear in honour of our dead. Fear not that ye have died for naught; well teach the lesson that ye wrought in Flanders fields.

Oh! You who sleep in Flanders fields, sleep sweet-to rise anew! We caught the torch you threw and holding high, we keep the faith with all who died.

Will they never fade or pass! The mud, and the misty figures endlessly coming in file through the foul morass, and the gray flood-water ripping the reeds and grass, and the steel wings drumming.

Australian Anthem
Australians all let us rejoice For we are young and free We've golden soil and wealth for toil, Our home is girt by sea: Our land abounds in nature's gifts Of beauty rich and rare, In history's page let every stage Advance Australia fair, In joyful strains then let us sing Advance Australia fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross, We'll toil with hearts and hands, To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands, For those who've come across the seas We've boundless plains to share, With courage let us all combine To Advance Australia fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia fair.
