    Threshold voltage in electrical engineering refers to a voltage level below which an input has no effect on a system. For a relay, which is an electromagnetic switch, threshold voltage means the system will not change after a certain voltage level is reached since a current through a coil is required to create an electromagnetic field that attracts an armature which then moves to open or close the switch.

    Threshold Voltage in Electrical Engineering means a voltage level below which an input has no effect on the system.

    Now the relay is an electromagnetic switch. So, when we speak of the threshold voltage that means that the system will not change after a certain voltage level since current through a coil is needed to create an electromagnetic field that attracts an armature. This armature moves to either open or close the switch.
