Following is an overview of what you can expect in your 7 th grade science classroom. Topics covered in science this semester will include the following: The practice of Science Forms of Energy Energy Transfer Transformations and Earths Structures Classroom rules and Expectations:
Be Ready (prepared) bring your textbook, notebook and supplies to class every day. Be Responsible complete all assigned work and turn it in on time, pay attention and be on task. Be Respectful listen to Mrs. Cleary when she speaks, avoid distractions and refrain from distracting others.

Homework: Expect homework 2-3 times per week. The weekly agenda is posted on the board and in Mrs. Clearys webpage every Monday ( http://mrsclearysscienceclass.blogspot.com/). Late work: Late work will be penalized by 20% (a one day grace period may be awarded). All missing
work must be completed prior to the end of each marking period to earn credit, a 10% grade will indicate the student never completed the work.

Make-up work: It is the students responsibility to ask for make-up work after an absence. Science Project: We will complete one science project per quarter; this will be either an individual or small
group activity.

Science Fair Project: A science fair project will be completed during the first semester. Advanced
students must plan to participate in the Science Fair and fulfill the extra steps in the completion of the project.

Textbooks: Each student will be issued a consumable textbook the second week of class. The textbook will also be available via internet and further information is forthcoming. Textbook replacement cost is $25.00. Grades/work assessment:
Tests /Quizzes Labs, and Projects Homework and class work 50% 30% 20%

*Discipline: Students who fail to meet classroom expectations, rules and procedures will be given plenty of
opportunities to correct their behavior as detailed in the following progression of consequences for not meeting discipline standards. 1. Verbal Warning 2. Teacher-student conference 3. Reflection Procedure 4. Parent contact/conference and/or guidance referral. 5. Lunch or after school detention 6. Discipline/administrative referral.
*Severe Penalty Clause Certain behavior will result in automatic administrative referral, refer to Student Code of Conduct page 11-12.
