LIBRARY and ARCHIVE INTERNS

The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is the national anchor institution for educational efforts on/about Pueblo people. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Library and Archives documents the history and experiences of the Pueblo people through its collections. Collection efforts include a research library and the preservation of manuscripts, personal papers, official reports, photographs, and audio/visual materials on the historical and contemporary life of Pueblo people. All priority materials acquired for the collection perpetuate the culture and history of the 19 Pueblo Nations of New Mexico. We are currently recruiting Library and Archive Interns. The Interns will assist the library staff in the maintenance, organization, and promotion of collection materials contained within the library and archives. The archive acquires, arrange, describe, and otherwise process collections, as assigned by the Research Historian according to local and professional standards of libraries and archives. Seeking Pueblo/Native American undergraduate or graduate students interested in developing or enhancing library and archives programs within tribal communities.

To qualify must have general working knowledge of the 19 Pueblo Nations of New Mexico. Organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines. Experience with word processing and office software applications. Physical ability to lift heavy boxes and exhibit props as necessary. Application Deadline (no extensions): September 15, 2012.
