The woodchip grade types propsed for DD CEN/TS 14961:2005 Solid biofuels. is shown in Figure A2 Fine grade is the most suitable for woodchip boilers but requires more processing (mainly sifting to remove oversized chips and slivers). Coarse grade is usually cheaper than fine and is acceptable for use with automatic woodchip boilers, although occasional blockages can be expected due the amount of oversized feedstock and slivers that may be present.
