HANDS ACROSS THE BORDER- The final report Benefit Concert for the displaced the Kachin people

in Northern Burma
It was, thanks to the mighty efforts of so many people, that The HANDS ACROSS THE BORDER concert was such a huge success. The concert also achieved the further benefit of increasing the general awareness of the tragic situation. Not only did we achieve the main objectives by raising over $ 9000, which was forwarded through Inter Pares to the Kachin Womens Association Thailand. Additionally, the massive turn out of the Burmese and Canadian communities afforded a rare opportunity to mix and socialize. We thank all those people who came, or who made donations but especially to Jimmy Jack (Legendary Burmese singer), who volunteered his services and made the evening. The evening was greatly honoured to be addressed by two Federal MPs MP.Costas Menegakis, on behalf of Hon. Jason Kenney,PC,MP Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism. The organizers were quite aware of the many hitches; nevertheless, feedback from the audience was over whelming as favourable.
