My name is Pedro Alvares Cabral. Today I set sail. I am going on an expedition for King Manuel of Portugal. He appointed me commander of a fleet of 13 ships and 1,500 men. I am going to follow the route of Vasco da Gama to India and return with valuable spices. My objective is to spread the word of god wherever I go. I have never sailed before, but King Manuel trusts me and knows I can succeed.
