Rsum Fundae

-Nishant Patni

The Rsum
Only representation of you out there, purpose is 'to get your foot in the door'! Do not overstate your pts, else you'll lose credibility, while avoiding extra modesty :) Present yourself well: Effort/ time spent Output!

The Content
This is like real estate: use it judiciously!.
Each pt should be powerful enough to speak something in favor of you. Avoid redundancies;

Mention numbers to convey your achievements Try and show how the job you took up was appreciated. (if it was!)

The Content
Tech vs. non-tech: different pts which you'd want to focus on:
Tech: BTP/DDP, other projects, Academic achievements, software skills etc. Non Tech: Extra-currics, Interests, diversity in profile etc.

The Lay-out
Has to be neat. Use demarcation lines, tables
etc. Font-size usually 10-11pts. Not too small Avoid underlines: are considered rude by some firms. Use Boldface to highlight and Italics to add impact. Use the same formating all across the resume.

Grammar etc.
No grammatical errors /spelling mistakes are tolerable. Use the same tense as far as possible (simple past, usually)

Use action verbs to begin each point

General Tips
Dates are a must. Prioritize your points .
In the extra-currcular section: the points should be arranged either in the order of importance or reversechronologically If you can show that your responsibility has increased over the years, it would help a lot.)

Get the resume read and edited by at least two people close to you and by somebody in the industry too, if possible.

Best of Luck!
