The name Q was chosen as when the magazine was first published/issued it was named Cue.

Pop

Billboard have used lower case letters to show that it is isn't as formal as all the other magazines, it shows that it is going to be aimed towards younger people. Also the colours in the actually name of red yellow and blue are the primary colours. This is an RnB magazine so all the bright colours associate well with it.

The capital Letters of NME are in capital letters, it shows that it is going to stand out from all the magazines on the rest of the shelf. The colour Red represents that is going to be a more feisty and Rocky magazine. This type of magazine would be attracted to the older magazine.

In the logo of Q it has stuck to a very simple layout but it shows that it can stick to the design throughout the whole magazine and magazines to come. The simple of colours of red and white show that they can mix them up with many colours so the audience dont get bored of just seeing white and red. It unique but everyone will recognise the logo if they see it.
