I think overall the content page is quite simple. However I do not think it is not effective because the content page has the sole purpose of displaying the content of the magazine.

The title in this contents page stands out because its a bright red against a white background. Red is often connotated with danger , a colour that commands your attention and this title is a clear example of that. I also think that the simplicity of it is also effective because it has no other purpose other than for organisational purposes. The main picture also commands attention. The reason it does is because of its size it takes up a certain percentage of the page. It also commands attention because of the pose that the artist has chosen to do it seems as if he is playing the trumpet , but playing rather loudly. The artist also looks as if he fits the conventions of the magazine the rock , indie genre. This is important as it is the artists that are included in the magazine that persuade consumers whether to buy one or not.

Towards the side of the content page is the list of article titles and their page number. I think the way that Q have chosen to do this in a simple , professional and organized way is effective. Because the sole purpose of the listing is to show what article is on what page.

The other printshots of articles allow consumers to get a feel of what the magazine mainly talks about. I think this is effective as it does show a range of characters.
