Autumn 2012 Dear Colleague, I have been asked to clarify the terms and conditions in regards to Inset Days

and Long Service Days. I have been given the following information from the Pay and Contracts team. Inset days: All non-office support staff are paid 43.36 weeks a year. This includes one inset day per year. The amount of hours you are contracted to work on your inset day is 1/5th of your weekly hours. E.g. if a member of staff works 20 hours a week then they should work 4 hours of inset time. Even if a member of staff only works on particular days that are not usually time tabled as inset, they are still contracted to work their pro rata hours It is expected for all support staff to attend the one arranged inset day a year for staff training, even if it is not their usual day to be at work as the days payment is on top of your arranged work days. A minimum of one terms notice is given so that staff can arrange childcare. Please check which inset day is arranged for training before booking holidays. Long Service Days: These can be taken by staff after 5 years of continuous work for LBR. They are worked out as 4/5ths (80%) of your working week. E.g. if a member of staff works 20 hours a week then they should have 16 hours of long service leave, 4 days of 4 hours each. To book the long service days, a staff leave of absence form must be filled in at least two weeks in advance and given to the head teacher. Please inform your line manager so that cover can be arranged. A maximum of two long service days can be taken per absence. It is up to the individual member of staff to ensure that they take all their long service days within each academic year (September to July) No remaining days can be carried over to the next year. If your start date is mid-year then the amount of days that you can take is pro-rata for the first year. Absences: If you are unable to attend work please call the infant office 020 8554 1919 by 8 am so that cover can be arranged. Please contact the school by 3pm to let us know if you might be able to return to work the next day. Return to work form: These must be filled in on your first day back at work and given to your line manager to ensure that absences are correctly paid for. Regards Joan Summerbell
