The 5th Annual Arab Report on Cultural Development, released this year under the title Knowledge-based Arab

Economy raises the following core questions: Have Arabs reached the knowledge community? Do they really have knowledge economies? Do we have knowledge-based cultural industries? Of what value? How much do they represent of Arab economies? What is the role of higher education and scientific research in building knowledge economy? What are the opportunities and challenges? What is the economic value of writing and publishing activities in the Arab Levant? What are the constituents? How much do cinema, drama and music creativity represent in Arab economies?

The Annual Arab Report is the first Arab-funded report to be launched by an Arab cultural institution, covering the realities of cultural development in 20 Arab states. Leading authors, experts and specialists in various scientific, technological, educational, artistic and creative fields, as well as an advisory board of prominent Arab intellectual personalities have taken part in preparing this Report.
