1. Briefly describe your previous teaching experiences. For the past 4 years, I have been a need-based instructor for Kane Educational, a private Nurse Refresher company. We teach 3 different courses, each are 6 hours and hands-on: RN/LPN skills course, IV Refresher/Certification, and Basic EKG Course. I have been able to develop the curricula for each of these courses and update them annually, and currently we are developing a Wound Care Course. I have also done some teaching as a substitute for a LPN program in the clinical and classroom areas. As a staff nurse, I have been a preceptor/mentor for new and experienced nurses in the clinical area where I work.

2. List those activities focused on teaching that you are comfortable with. Teaching basic nursing skills in a methodical manner and ensuring competency. Orienting students to clinical areas in Adult health. Supervising and encouraging learning for students in clinical areas in adult health. Orienting new nurses or new employees at the hospital and ensuring objectives are met.

3. List those activities that you need additional knowledge/skills with. Teaching head-to-toe assessment correctly and concisely Teaching advanced nursing skills (such as ICU-level skills and thought processes/critical care diagnoses). Preparing lectures, tests, quizzes, and syllabi. Evaluating learning.
