    Dear Rev. Michael Stainton, Thank you for contacting my office with respect to how Canada has dealt with medical parole for former Republic of China President Chen Shui-bian. I always welcome hearing from my constituents. The Canadian government shares concerns about former President Chen Shui-bians medical condition with the Taiwanese people as well as the global population. The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei has been monitoring reports concerning Mr. Chens health closely. Medical experts in the region have made several suggestions regarding the next steps for Mr. Chens medical care, which are currently being assessed. Thank you again for contacting my office.
