Born Oct. 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. Painter, Scultpure, Printmaker, ceramicist, and Stage designer. Part Creator of Cubism. Died April 8, 1973 in Mougins, Spain. Real name:Pablo Diego Jos Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Mara de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santsima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso

Created in response to the bombing of Guernica, a Basque Country village in northern Spain by German and Italian warplanes on 26 April 1937, during the Spanish Civil War.

In 1909 F. T. Marinettis futurist manifesto appeared on the front page of Le Figaro, and less than four years later Pablo Picasso incorporated a fragment of real newspaper into a work of art. The modern mass-media newspaper had colonized fine art

Blue and Pink Period

Jackson Pollock

Born on January 28, 1912 in Cody, Wyoming Abstract artist, pouring paint on canvas was not the first to experiment with it. Taken care by his mother, father was abusive. Had ambition at young age to be an artist even if he did not know what to do. He wanted to go to New York. He died at the age of 44 while driving drunk.

Was not a fan of school got kicked out a lot. His father died suddenly in 1933, he fell into a deep depression.

Differences and Similarities

Differences- Pablo was from spain. Pollock from US. Pablo dies of old age and he was pretty famous in his country. Pollack died young.

Similarities- Abstract, School was not a interest.

What Ive learned

I've learned that both artist were very interested in art and did what they had to do to be the greatest. They have a unique way of showing emotion in there paintings. I did not know that Pablo was a 1900s artist. Jackson Pollocks are does not have a beginning and a end he can control the paint even if it doe not look like it.

My Artwork

I combined Pollacks abstract with Pablos newspaper to tell what my picture is based on to have the view wonder what is going on. The splatter gives movement.
