Parents and Guardians of the Cabrillo Unified School District: Todays tragic events in Newton, Connecticut are too difficult to fully comprehend. However, it is important to know that our teachers, support staff, and administrators take the safety of our students as our highest priority. To this end, we have developed a comprehensive emergency response guide. The guide is posted to our district website for your reference. We have also been in close contact with the Sheriffs Department throughout this day. They provided extra patrols at each school to further ensure the safety of our students. Our actions today have included extra attention to our students and how they are responding to the news. We have our counselors and psychologists available to support any student who may need additional support and comfort. As students process this information, it may be that this support is needed in the coming weeks. Our staff will be there to support them. It is important that we work together to address any emerging or lingering needs this tragedy holds for our community. We committed to do so. Estimados Padres de familia del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Cabrillo: Los trgicos eventos de Newton, Connecticut del da de hoy son muy difciles de comprender. Sin embargo, es muy importante recordar que nuestros maestros, personal y Directores dan la ms alta prioridad en la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes. Para est fin, el distrito escolar ha desarrollado un plan exhaustivo de cmo se debe responder a situaciones de emergencia. Est plan lo puede encontrar en el sitio de red del distrito escolar para que usted as obtenga ms informacin. Hemos estado en contacto con el Departamento del Aguacil del condado de San Mateo durante todo este da. Y nos han informado que estn patrullando en cada escuela para proveer ms seguridad a nuestros estudiantes. Nuestras acciones de hoy han tenido una atencin especial hacia nuestros estudiantes de como ellos reaccionaran al escuchar estas noticias. Tenemos consejeros y psiclogos disponibles para dar apoyo a cualquier estudiante que pudiese necesitar ayuda adicional y apoyo en la comprensin de este evento. Mientras que los estudiantes estn tratando de comprender esta informacin y tal vez, necesiten de nuestro apoyo durante las prximas semanas. Es importante que estemos comprometidos en trabajar juntos para enfrentar cualquier necesidad o preocupacin que tuviese un nio en nuestra comunidad debido a esta tragedia.
