How do we understand man from the perspective of education within the context of evolving society?

This question presumes two major questions; the first question is, what is the nature of the human person?and the second is what education is? The human person is a multi- dimensional being seeking integration (Judith Caron, 2001) s/He is not only rational, but also sexual, emotional, social, a being-in the world and for the world. His essence is determined by the kind of environment (culture, politics, religion, education, etc.) he is into. In theological perspective, the human person suggest that human person is created in the image of God, an image that calls for perfection which is an ongoing process of destiny that he has to achieve as his goal and destiny. On the one hand, education should raise the awareness of the students so that they become subjects, rather than objects, of the world. This is done by teaching students to think democratically and to continually question and make meaning from (critically view) everything they learn. The Bazilian educator Paulo Freire views knowledge as a social construct. He said: ... knowing is a social process, whose individual dimension, however, cannot be forgotten or even devalued. The process of knowing, which involves the whole conscious self, feelings, emotions, memory, affects, an epistemologically curious mind, focused on the object, equally involves other thinking subjects, that is, others also capable of knowing and curious. This simply means that the relationship called "thinking" is not enclosed in a relationship "thinking subject - knowable object" because it extends to other thinking subjects. (Freire, Paulo, 1998, p. 92) Looking much deeper on what education is? It is more than training; it is a formation of life. It is an education develops the mind and heart of individual. A development of humans intelligence, emotional, social and spiritual. Education and schools connotes big role in the lives of man. How? It must prepare each individual to future world of business, to make economy functional and the best of all to be the leader of what we call future. It is not just a source of knowledge and power. It is not just a sense of professionalism but a collaborative sense of becoming a human. Education should help each individual to realize the following: have enough courage to live and motivation to face different struggles in life with faith and conviction; give sense to friendship and value obligation as a sign of respect to one another; strengthen our sense of values such as generosity, propriety, politeness, self-control, self-esteem and sensitivity; and treating one another with equal rights, sharing and solidarity. Toffler stated: Society needs people who take care of the elderly and who know how to be compassionate and honest. Society needs people who work in hospitals. Society needs all kinds of skills that are not just cognitive; they're emotional, they're

affection. Man is a product of education which fosters good leadership and beautiful future. Its true because of
education people become more knowledgeable about many things but more of that it helps us to become more critical and appreciative of realities in life. Man is a leader, a human who belongs to what we call humanity. A

relating being which has the proper senses, conscious and genuinely appreciate himself and everything that surrounds him. A man and a being know how to be able to take charge of the development of his society. A man and a disciple of Jesus involve his own uniqueness and beauty in developing his own society. Our society is in need of change, a transformation, but how? We need to reflect as human being with faith and evangelize among ourselves. A good leader should have the sense of solidarity, with determination and firm attitude to commit oneself to what is good, promoting justice and inspired by the spirit of service and love of sharing. Like Jesus, as a MasterTeacher Leader, he doesnt want us to spoon-feed even though he can, what he allows is to us to participate and test our creativity and response to the existing problem. As a leader, we are not just leader by the title but a comaker who is responsible for his members to learn. He portrays generosity in a sense that he can provide the needs of all. A professional who knows what is good for everybody. A king whos claiming his authority with obedience and loyalty. He was a president because he can plan and work with confidence. A common tao who knows how to listen and reach out for the welfare of others. There are many brilliant and learned minds that have such what we call good education. But what will happen if this brilliant and learned man doesnt want to look around and beyond? It might say therefore education for the sake of money. Believing education can mold every single mind, heart and hands. This must be the vision of EDUCATION just like Christian Educations impart doctrine and life of Jesus. Its cornerstone is the development of the human personality, helps discover mans uniqueness and it ingested changes that new human being emerges. And who will make all of these things possible? The EDUCATORS, has great impact to these function. Teachers which good, smart, creative, committed and open for the call of changes. An educator must know his students potentials and weaknesses. Reflecting on one of the excerpts interviews of Toffler, the question is: How does the role of the teacher change? Toffler answered with confidence: I think that maybe teaching shouldnt be a lifetime career. Maybe its important for teachers to quit for three of four years and go do something else and come back. Theyll come back with better

ideas and about how outside world works, in ways that would not have been available to them if they were in the classroom the
whole time. For him in this manner, creating a new system is possible from new ideas and it is very healthy thing for the country to do so. Change is necessary but the problem is Where to start? and How can we do it? Again it lies to everybody especially to our Educators, Instructors, Professors, Teachers, Mga Guro, who have the dignity of callingas a social servant and modern prophet. They are the one who never give up and has the freedom to teach that will improve individuals learning process. They have human intelligence on the highest level of moral or spiritual and mechanical as well. They know the definition of progress and success.
