INSTRUMENTS REQUIRED: .
1. Sine Bar - 100, 200mm. 2. Height gauge. 3. Surface plate.
PROCEDURE: a) METHOD-I
1. The specimen is cleaned and placed on the surface plate such that the taper surface in upward direction. 2. Suitable sine bar is chosen and placed upside down on the surface of the specimen to be measured. 3. Using dernier height gauge measure the heights H1&H2. 4. Finally calculate the taper angle using appropriate formula.
b)
METHOD-2
1. Place the sine bar on the surface plate and then place the specimen on the sine bar as per the geometric diagram given.
2. Now built up the slip gauge block for an approximate height, and insert the slip gauge block under the right side of roller. 3. Now the plunger of the dial gauge brought into contact with the upper surface of the specimen. 4. Move the plunger slowly over the surface throughout the length. While moving the plunger over the surface, the indicator shows zero on its dial, otherwise adjust the slip gauge block dimension to bring zero on dial gauge. Then using height of the slip gauge block and appropriate formula calculate the taper angle.
OBSERVATIONS: METHOD.I
S.NO H1 mm H2 mm Sin = (H2 H1)/L degree
METHOD II
S.NO H1 mm Sin = H/L degree
RESULT:Thus the taper angle of the given specimens were measured using Sine bar .
