A Detailed Lesson Plan in Computer (MS Excel)

I.

Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: To recall and recognize the different types of chart To recognize the different parts/elements of an Excel chart To navigate the Chart Tools menu To create a simple chart To modify an existing chart

Subject Matter Creating Graph in Microsoft Excel 2007 Reference: www.microsoft.com/education/Office Materials: teachers laptop, projector, light pen, computer laboratory Values integrated: creativity, patience

Procedure

A. Learning Activities Teachers Activity Good Morning Class... Let us pray first... Students Activity Good Morning Maam! (One Student will lead the Prayer)

(Checking of Attendance) ...say present... Please pick up the pieces of paper under your chair

(Students raise their hand and say present as the teacher calls in their name) (Students pick up the pieces of paper)

B. Lesson Proper

Presentation Projects a big picture of an apple pie on the screen Motivation Class, what do you see on the screen? What do you like about pies? Sure it is! how many are we in the class? What do you think is the best way to share the pie with the whole class? Why? Thats correct. Slicing the pie in portions made sure each of us has a share from the whole pie. Just like what we see in a CHART. Recalling what we learned from our (Students listen attentively)

Geometry/Math subjects, a chart is a visual representation of data represented by symbols; such as the sample charts we will see on the screen. Discussion (Projects different types of charts on the screen and briefly discuss each one) In Microsoft Excel, we can make charts to display series of numeric data in a graphical format to make it easier to understand large quantities of data and the relationship between different series of data. (Projects a sample bar chart on the screen. (Students listen attentively)

Using a light pen, pinpoint and define each part/element.) Next, how do we start making a chart in Microsoft Excel? First we need numeric data. Class, during our laboratory exercise last meeting, we created a table of numbers. Now, we will use that numeric data to create our sample chart. Microsoft Excel screen to familiarize themselves in making charts. Target output is to produce one (1) colourful pie and bar graph. Teacher shall select top 3 best charts to be printed and posted on the class activity wall and

shall receive +5 points.
