Your supervisor has asked you to compare current salaries of males and females of the organization whose data are represented in the file, EMPLOYEE DATA.SAV in the SPSS subdirectory. Prepare a memo comparing the salary distributions. Compare the two groups using a) an appropriate tabular technique, b) an appropriate graphical technique, and c) appropriate statistics. Include those in the body of the memo or as tables or figures referenced in the memo. Arrive at a conclusion concerning the existence or nonexistence of differences between the two distributions of salaries based on comparisons of the tables, graphs, and numeric summaries youve created. Use those descriptive techniques to support your conclusion. You may have to create either tables or graphs outside of SPSS, depending on which ones you choose and on how creative you are at manipulating SPSS. The file contains data on medical residents in a single specialty for six years. All residents were members of resident training programs at teaching hospitals. (Chattanoogas Erlanger Hospital is an example of such a teaching hospital.) The resident programs ranged in size from those with only 1 or 2 residents up to programs with as many as 13 or 14 residents. Program size was categorized as either small (PROGSIZE=0) or large (PROGSIZE=1). The variable PART1 represents the scores of the residents on an examination similar to the GRE test. There has been concern that there has been a decline in quality of residents in this particular specialty over the years. Prepare a memo a) describing the relationship of mean PART1 scores to year. b) describing the relationship of mean PART1 scores to program size.
