COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course is the first calculus course being offered to B.Tech (Hons.) students (except Biotech students) PRE-REQUISITES: Mathematics upto +2 level COURSE CONTENTS: S. Functions of Two Variables, Partial Derivatives, Total Differentials and Derivatives, Approximation by Total Differentials, Derivatives of Composite and Implicit Functions, Higher Order Partial Derivatives, Homogeneous Functions, Taylors Theorem, Maximum and Minimum Values of Functions, Multiple Integrals, Double Integrals, Triple Integrals, Change of Variables in Integrals. MTE Linear Independence of Vectors, Elementary Row and Column Operations , Solution of General Linear System of Equations, Existence and Uniqueness of the Solution, Echelon form of a Matrix, Gauss Elimination Method for Non-homogeneous Systems, Eigen Values and Eigen Vectors, Similar and Diagonalisable Matrices. Exact First Order Differential Equations, Integrating Factors, Linear First Order Equations, Bernoulli Equation, Methods for Solution of Linear Equations, Differential Operator, Solution of Second Order Linear Homogeneous Equations with Constant Coefficients, , Solution of Higher Order Linear Homogeneous Equations with Constant Coefficients, Operator Methods for Finding Particular Integrals, Soluion of Non-homogeneous Linear Equations, Method of Variation of Parameters, Method of Undetermined Coefficients, Solution of Euler-Cauchy Equation.
