Secondary: McLynn, Frank. The Burma Campaign: Disaster into Triumph 1942-45. New Haven: Yale University Press, 2011. Book. This book is a secondary source, you can tell because it was published in 2011, while the actual campaign was during the Second World War From this book I learned all about a Burma Campaign and its accomplishments from a professional outsiders viewpoint. I also learned about some of the effects the Campaign had on the outcome of the War.

Callahan, Raymond. Burma 1942-1945. Newark: University of Delaware Press, 1978. Book. This book is a secondary source, you can tell because it was published in 1978, while the actual campaign was during 1931-1945. This book explained the history behind the campaign and the events that lead up to it. It also explained why the Japanese needed Burma, and how they were going to achieve that.

Hoyt, Edwin Palmer. The Great Pacific Conflict: Japans War. New York: McGraw-Hill, 1968. Book. This book is also a secondary source, you can tell because it was published in 1968, while the actual campaign was during the early 1940s. This book helped explain why the Japanese made the military decisions they did and how the events from the earlier War took part in effecting those decisions. It also explains the effects the campaign had on the economy of the Japanese at the time.

Rasor, Eugene L. The China-Burma-India Campaign, 1931-1945. Westport, Conn.: Greenwood Press, 1998. Book. This book is also a secondary source, you can tell because it was published in 1998, while the actual campaign took place during the Second World War. From this book I learned of all the main countries (other than the US) involved in the campaign. The book also explained why these other countries were dragged into the campaign, the campaigns effect on their economy and people, and what they were fighting for.

Toland, John. The Rising Sun: The Decline and Fall of the Japanese Empire, 1936-1945. 2 vols. New York: Random House, 1970. Book. This book is a secondary source (there is a primary, but I got the revised edition), you can tell because it is published in 1970, while the actual event took place during the Second World War. It recounts events of Japans involvement in the First World War. It also explains about the role of China in stooping Japan, and the rise of communism there.

Tipton, Laurence. Chinese Escapade. London: Macmillan, 1949. Book. This book is also a secondary source, you can tell because it was published in 1949, while the campaign ended in 1945. This book explained the Chinese importance in stopping the Japanese of meeting up with the Germans in Russia. It also explains how the US was already involved with the War, just not officially in it.

Primary: Persico, Joseph E. FDRS China Syndrome. New York Times 15 Sep. 1933: 5p. Newspaper Article. This article is a primary source because it was published during a year that the Burma Campaign was taking place. It explained Franklin D. Roosevelts part in the campaign and his part in helping the Chinese stop that Japanese from taking over Burma, and how the author thinks it affected the country.

Parshall, Jonathon. Wenger, J. Michael. Pearl Harbor's OVERLOOKED ANSWER. Washington Post 23 Dec. 1942: p16-21. Newspaper Article. The article explains how the development of the Japanese aircraft weapons has encouraged them to bomb Pearl Harbor. It focuses on how the Japanese might have done it and why. You can tell it is a primary source because it was published just weeks after the bombing.

Sewell, Horace S. The Campaign in Burma. April 1945: LZ01. Newspaper Article.

This article explains the over-all events that happened during the campaign. It also gives credit to the Allies soldiers and their battle on the front. You can tell this is a primary source because it happened during the last year of the campaign.

Presseisen, Ernst Leopold. Germany and Japan; A Study in Totalitarian Diplomacy, 19331941. The Hague: M. Nijhoff, 1947. Book. This book described the goals and plans of the German and Japanese military. It also described how the Pearl Harbor bombing affected the Germans war in Russia. You can tell this is a primary source because the author has a brief talk about his time in Asia and Burma while the war was going on, and how that inspired him to write the book.

Alsop, Joseph. We Opened the Door for the Communists. Saturday Evening Post 8 Feb. 1941: A1. Newspaper Article. This article explains how the US's foreign policy led to Chinas communists. It also explains Stilwells, Kai-sheks, and other generals mental thinking and what led them to make what decisions. This article is a primary source because it was published when WW2 was going on.

Hartwell, Marilyn. Buckholtz, Helen. From Conversations with Nancy Stilwell about General Joseph Stilwell's Life with China. Sep. 1938. Newspaper Article. The article presents information about the life of General Joseph Stilwell in China. There is also a short biography of General Stilwell is also presented. You can tell it is a primary source because it was published in 1938, while the campaign was going on.
