Alas, Babylon Project

1) If there were a Chapter 14, what would happen next? Write the chapter picking up

exactly where Frank left off. Your new chapter must be realistic and stay within the framework of the novel. Strive to maintain the same style and voice of Pat Frank. It should involve the current characters and be four pages long typed and formatted appropriately. You will also create a movie poster using pictures of actual actors and actresses as if you were casting the movie.
2) Complete an analysis of four of the characters (Randy, Dan, Lib, Malachai, Admiral

Hazzard, Ben Franklin, Bill, Helen, Peyton). Include analysis of the characters interactions and how these interactions affect the plot. Also examine the authors use of direct and indirect characterization (How does the author reveal the characters and their traits to the reader?) Your analysis should be four pages long. You must also create an artistic depiction of the characters you analyze.
3) You are the editor of the Fort Repose local paper. Produce an edition that will come

out after the bomb has dropped (a week, a month, six months after) The newspaper must be reflective of what is happening at the time in Fort Repose. Consider the sections and articles that appear in a newspaper: local interest, editorials, advice columns, sports news, world and local news, advertisements, etc.
4) Nuclear bombs have been dropped in the United States. Life as we know it has

ceased to exist. Pretend you are a survivor and are keeping a journal for the first six months, starting with the day the bombs are dropped. You must write at least ten entries of at least 75 words each describing who is with you, exactly what you are doing to survive, any obstacles you must overcome, etc. Your journal should be typed. Creatively and neatly assemble your journal.
5) Write and perform an Alas, Babylon song. You may use music from an already

existing song. It must be of suitable length and subject material. You may video tape your performance or perform it live in class. You will turn in a typed copy of the lyrics on the day it is due.
