Self-reported hip circumference If the participant is immobile or refuses to have his/her hip circumference measured, this fact should be recorded in the data collection form. His/her self-reported hip circumference is not acceptable as a substitute. Hip circumference exceeds the length of the tape If the hip circumference exceeds the length of the tape, this fact together with the maximum length of the tape (see Appendix 5.1), should be recorded in the data collection form.
